Hi no it can't be the granulated sugar cause I've used it many times,try to not over knead your dough or add to much flour when cutting your scones your dough should be a little wet but not so wet that u can't cut it if that makes sense

Slms Gawa... I made these scones today and my oh my they are absolutely Beutifull.... I have always made scones with Buttermilk but this recipe is the bomb!!! My new go to!!!! Thanks for the tip not to twist when using the cookie cutter that really helped ❤️

Comes out perfectly...shukran...I use margarine...good quality type like Rama or Stork bake..don't use spreads...handle as lightly as possible.

My mum used to make scones when we're living in SA. When we went back to her country of birth the scones would never rise as well.

Why is it important to say real butter. Butter is butter and margarine is margarine.

Don't roll it out to thin,when cutting Into shapes never twist your cutter,when brushing with egg on top don't let it drip down the sides all these things can stop your scones from raising,also make sure your butter is cold and don't over work your dough,hope that helps.
