Thank you , I have the 710 a week or 2 and this is the first time i did buttonholes. A little practice and it's working great thanks to your demo.

Hi. How to check how many hours the machine has worked. I am asking about this model.

Could you please show us how the machine handles makşng a button hole on a thick winter coat fabric? I relied on the machine and ruined my coat!

Hi Selma, good point. I also experience disappointing results when trying to make buttonholes on doublefolded fabrics. Using stabilizer does not prevent bad sewn buttonholes. Hopefully someone has useful tricks.

Is it correct that when I place my needle down at the spot where I want my buttonhole to start (I find it easier to see the placement that way) that it often malfunctions and keeps sewing straight backwards and doesnt start making the buttonhole? It has happened many times to me and I am wondering if there is any way to fix it

Hi Stephanie, good question. I struggle with the correct starting point too because it is hard to see it. Despite sketching the buttonhole onto the fabric the buttonhole does not come in the same way. I hope someone can give some handy directions.

I had the same problem just today...waiting for my sewing machine dealer to send solution. Annoying problem!

I contacted the dealer about it. He said that I cant put the needle down. Just have it at the correct starting point and with the needle at the place of the arrow in the buttonhole foot. Its not very practicle i think. Or you can put the needle down but you have to go back in the menu and set the buttonhole settings correctly and sew each buttonhole like that. Also not practicle 🤭

@@stephaniewillems9433 My dealer responded that I should unplug, then re-plug the buttonhole foot in. Make sure it is well and truly plugged in. I did this and it worked. I was able to make several buttonholes last night. BTW, I use a mirror to look up into the hole for the plug as it is in an awkward position.

Probably because the 'line' into the socket is not fully pressed in and engaged, you just get a straight line plus a bit of swearing.

They make them look easy, they are, until you start in the real world with a thicker fabric and then they become a bit of a beggar.
