this is a beautiful pattern but my yarn was a bit too chunky, and i had only 6 skeins, and each skein did about one row XD so ill have to try a new pattern, but tysm for teaching me how to hand crochet! super easy to learn

That's why when I get to the middle of my blanket, it's a bow when I hold it up at the top row. Thank you. I'm definitely gonna work on my tension.

How does one decide how many skeins needed for a project?

If you aren’t following a particular pattern sometimes it’s a matter of trial and error. Since I create my own patterns I will end up needing more yarn towards the end or sometime me having some extra. In the case of the extra, I use that for smaller projects I didn’t necessarily plan on 🥰
