I'm making a robotic arm out of craft foam. I was thinking about using the led strips? I don't have any room for an air pocket between the lighting and paper. I also don't have much space for a large battery. What would you suggest?

Can you push the lights from the inside of the arm out? So that the leds would be flush with the foam and all the wiring would be hidden inside the arm.

Hmmm, I could cut strips in the foam so the led could be flush, the problem is, the arm, when it's engaged in fighting, glows completely whole? So, there's no patterns in the arm unfortunately, that I could cut into. It's basically just a solid 'metal' piece.
