Great news! I just put this pattern on my Etsy store as some of you might prefer a written pattern. Come have a look: www.etsy.com/au/listing/1146602293/easy-beret-hat-crochet-pattern-size?ref=listings_manager_grid 💚💚 You can use any yarn and its recommended hook size for the pattern. If it starts to ruffle, switch to a bigger hook size.

Hi I started making this lastnight, I skimmed the video and notice you said the hat is tight, is the pattern identical to this video ? meaning the hat will be tight. I know you said to add a few less rows but I worry that will wreak the shape of the hat, I really want to make this hat anyway can you please confirm if you have altered the pattern or have you made this with less rows does it wreak the shape?
@CherilynQ
@CherilynQ 2 жыл бұрын
Hello! Thank you for asking! The written pattern is the refined version of the video but it will still state what the my video did differently to avoid confusion. Doing fewer rows at the brim barely changes the shape of the hat ( when you stop increasing changes it more) so no need to worry about that ☺️

When I tried making the circle section of hat, like before decreasing, it gets all curvy and wavy like it’s not flat like in the video. Do you know a way to fix it? Should I start off with 12 stitches instead of 14?
@CherilynQ
@CherilynQ 9 ай бұрын
It could be the hook or tension. I get why you suggested starting with 12. I think I initially tried 12 but it didn't lay flat as a circle. If you haven't frogged it, you can probably eyeball how many stitches you need to remove so you have an idea of whether to begin with 13 or 12. Hope this helps!

Mine will not lay flat as I continued to work my increases, it has fluttery “lettuce” edges all the way around . Also I am confused about what to do with the chain 2. Are they being included in the last BP DC of the round for every round? Or are they supposed to be left out?

@CherilynQ 2 жыл бұрын
@@antoinettejackson8013Hi, I can't be sure why yours ruffles since I can't see it. If you follow my pattern exactly and still have a ruffly circle, it could be because the hook you are using is too small for the yarn, or that your tension is too tight. But I'm glad you fixed it now For the ch2, I designed it to be included in the last bpdc in the same round. Hope this helps!

I've started this béret and I'm about 10 rounds in. The circle is a little wavy\curling but flattens out when I lay it flat. Should I be concerned? Will it be OK once I start decreasing? I'm worried that I started too tight. Or my yarn is too thick? It's DK. Ugh I don't know and I don't want to frog it incase it works out. It feels really thick and squishy and looks a lot thicker than yours. Is this right?
@CherilynQ
@CherilynQ Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry this happened. I would try decreasing for 2 rounds since you're already at rnd 10, might as well. Also, a larger hook and loose tension would help with the curling situation.
@DZZLL
@DZZLL Жыл бұрын
@@CherilynQ thank you so much for replying! I started again with a new ball of the same yarn (DK weight) and a smaller hook but the same happened. I must be doing something wrong cos its at 9 rounds (not 10 after all) and only about 12cm across so definitely not ready for decreasing yet. I'm gonna frog and try with a larger hook and loosen up my tension. Would you suggest any alternative to the bpdc? I think that's where I'm screwing up my tension cos it's such a fiddly stitch. Thank you again for your reply, I absolutely adore your videos ❤️
@CherilynQ
@CherilynQ Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I don’t know another way to do bpdc. Simple dc won’t do cuz it’s not the same height. You can also try working the fpdc and bpdc taller too if you can as well as the looser tension and larger hook.

I've been trying to follow this, but every time I try it always comes up too small. I get to 10 stitches and it's only 19/20cm... What am I doing wrong???
@CherilynQ

Sounds like your yarn is thinner than mine so it's normal your work is smaller. You can keep increasing following the same pattern until it's 25 cm in diameter before you decrease.

No worries. I think 5 ply weight is 3.5 - 4.5 mm hook size. Can you go up to 5 mm? and work the stitches looser and post double crochets taller.

Each round you decrease, it gets smaller. Sounds like you already know how to make the decrease. Just follow the pattern, make the decrease in each round and it will become smaller. I hope this helps ❤

Hi, assuming his/her head is around 50 cm in circumference, which means 16 cm in diameter, you can follow the same increasing pattern until the circle is around 21-23 cm in diameter, do 1 more round without increase or decrease, and then start decreasing until the brim is around 14-15 cm in diameter (just a little tighter on the head). I think this will work fine and please feel free to let me know how it turns out 💕

9:17 i have a question about this row. you said do 2 back post in the first back post and one in the second back post. and u said do it for the next 3 stitches. but you didnt explain what to do after 3 stitches? how what to do for the rest of posts on that row???
@nell1251
@nell1251 Жыл бұрын
I was also a bit confused at first but found out, after those three stiches you continually repeat it (so one front post in the front post, two back posts in the first back post, one back post in the second back post) three stitches at a time for the rest of the round, she speeds up the video but shows how you finish the row and start a new one

I am following the pattern exactly. But I have to increase more if I wanna get 25 inches. Does that mean my yarn is small?
@CherilynQ
@CherilynQ 2 жыл бұрын
Your yarn could be smaller than mine, but again you're using a smaller hook, so it's hard to say. If you follow the pattern exactly and your circle is close to what I have sizewise, then it could just be your hook; If your circle is way smaller than mine, then it's probably because your yarn is small too.

@@CherilynQ when its 10 stitches I only get 20 cm not 25, so should I just increase hook size?
@CherilynQ
@CherilynQ 2 жыл бұрын
My yarn calls for 4.5 mm. Idk if your hook is too small for your yarn, but using a smaller hook than the yarn calls for is one of the reasons why a circle ruffles. Another reason is your tension is too tight. You could fix it by: 1. switching to a bigger size hook 2. using loose tension 3. starting from beginning with 12 dc in magic ring (then follow the same inc/dec pattern) Hope this helps! ❤
