I wear mine from 4-5 weeks depending on what I plan to do with my hair next. I'm so indecisive. I have very coarse natural hair so I try my hardest to manage it(transitioning for 6-7 months and my growth is crazy)

I moisterize my hair every other day. because my hair is really good at maintaining its moisture. so what I like to do is to add water to my already moisturize hair. and I'm able to actually rock it until the weekend without any product. thats only if i moisturize my hair really well, on my wash day.

3 Weeks is best , else you have build up of products which is not healthy for your scalp. Even when the hair looks good , is best to care more for your scalp, so not longer than 3 weeks is the best.Is also good to let your scalp and hair rest a few days. Before any etc.

my cutoff is 3wks also. I get bored but i think 3-4 wks is long enough. I try to moisturize my hair every other day because my hair/scalp tend to get dry whenever my hair is in cornrows.

Why don't you just make crochet wigs?.. It'll be easier on your hair, and you can take them off at night. Plus.. it'll extend the hair's life time; the hair will last longer.
