Thank you for this tutorial!!!! I made it one row broader across the shoulders and one row longer in the sleeves and it fits me PERFECT! It’s so cozy I’m going to make another in a different colorway! I also somehow used less than 100grams of mohair, even though I double pulled for every color including the granny rows? Idk lmao

Hi! I don’t understand, when I’m doing the granny stitch, it sometimes does not line up in the increase corners, like I can’t skip 1 stitch because I have 2 stitches left before the increase in that case. Or my granny stitch would be in the stitch before the increase hole. How does this work?
@nynke9415

This tutorial has been really cool so far. Only think I would mention is sometimes it would be helpful to know what it is supposed to look like at certain points. Since it’s not a fixed pattern, it requires a bit of guesswork to figure out what it is supposed to look like. So like describing/showing us where on your body it comes up to before you start separating the sleeves could be really helpful! X

What happens if the first row of granny clusters does not fall onto an increase stitch because that’s what happened to me. I had two stitches before the increase stitch and the stitch right next to it would have gotten a cluster if I followed the pattern. Do I just continue following the skip one pattern or do I skip both stitches in order to cluster into the increase stitch ?

I am still in progress, but I noticed that 200g is actually way too much (at least for size XS). I am making it in solid color and I got 4 50g skeins of mohair. I am double pulling from 2 skeins. Currently I am starting my sleeves and I still have 80-70 percent of each skein left. It really looks like I might get it done with 100g. I understand that if u want 3-4 colors you will need to purchase at least 3-4 skeins so this will add up to 200g. But for those making a solid color version I advise getting 100 g if you are S-XS
@madeinthemoment

That is exactly what happened to me. Turns out, on the first go round of the sleeves, i was hdc into every stitch of the granny clusters instead of every other stitch. Also ended up doing treble crochets for my first several rows instead, and did 3 rows where I decreased at the corners to bring it in. Now mine fits great! Sometimes you gotta go off script depending on your tension and crocheting style!

Okay, the granny stitch increase should go into the increase space regardless of it you skip a stitch before it or not. So you could either skip 2 stitches between your last granny cluster and your increase space or you could just put 2 granny clusters next to each other. Let me know if that helps!

Make sure you're not adding an extra stitch at the end of each row! You can figure it out by placing a stitch marker on the first stitch of the round and then making sure your last stitch of the next round goes into the marked stitch!

I had the same problem! What happened was, at the end of every row when I did the slip stitch, I didn't pull it tight so when finishing the next row I would see this slip stitch as a regular stitch and crochet into it. That's how I kept adding stitches without noticing. Took me a while to figure out but maybe this helps!

I want to use a yarn that changes colour and I'm guessing that doubling the yarn will mess up the gradient effect. Do you think this would work with a single strand of mohair yarn, or would you use a smaller hook? Thanks for the great tutorial :)

It would work with a single strand! You can either size down your hook for tighter stitches or you can still use a bigger hook and just have looser stitches

Thank you for this tutorial!!!! I made it one row broader across the shoulders and one row longer in the sleeves and it fits me PERFECT! It’s so cozy I’m going to make another in a different colorway!

This is my first clothes pattern I’m committing to and I’m really confused on the sleeves. I don’t know if I did something wrong but my sleeves are too big underneath and I’m only 4 rows in. Do you suggest doing some decreases under the arm?

I am so frustrated with the actual sleeve part. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I make sure not to crochet into the slip stitch at the end of the row and have even tried decreasing extra stitches, but the sleeves STILL flare!! Any tips??? 😭

wow initially I thought "how long is it since I watched one of Emma's videos, her hair has grown!" - duh then realised this wasn't a new-release! Love your work 🙂

The only question I have is, can I switch between different hook sizes? I want to have some parts that are more close together with stitches that will look more like modest but I also want my arms to have the holes and stuff that are with the looser stitches.

Hii i love your tutorial on this but my sleeves are very big compared to my arms and I think it’s because I added a bit more of the stitches for the armpits are there any way to make the sleeves smaller???
@madeinthemoment
@madeinthemoment 2 жыл бұрын
I would just go back and chain less under the arms! If you don't want to go all the way back you can make some decreases right around the armpit area and that should bring the sleeve in too!

i feel like i’m doing something wrong 😢 every time it comes to the granny stitch and i have to skip one stitch i never ever hit the increase. i get the first but when i continue i don’t have a stitch between my last normal and the increase sticht to leave free and i don’t know what i’m doing wrong. is did. it with 70 stitches first bc i use a way smaller hook and cotton and then i thought maybe i counted wrong and tried it exactly like in the video with 50 stitches and it still doesn’t work 😢 anybody a tip?

doing this with a thicker wool and a 6mm hook, the holes are a lot smaller do i need to use a bigger hook?
@madeinthemoment
@madeinthemoment 2 жыл бұрын
I would size up several sizes from what the yarn recommends! For a thicker wool I would go up to at least a 10mm if you do want bigger holes.

Quick question, when you say to hold the yarn double, is that necessary for the project or is it just for that specific type of yarn?

i added 5 to the foundation row because i'm using a different yarn weight giving me 55 to start instead of 50, and 10% of that is 5.5. should i just count and mark 5 anyways (for the increases) or will that mess up my proportions? should i go back and add an extra foundation double crochet to make it even? i've been crocheting a few months but i 'm definitely still a beginner lol

How much yarn do you use? And what is the lenght and tickness of it? Like how much do you need to buy? Good video by the way!!!

Hey that granny row is kinda wobbly for me(looks like it has too many stitches)..is it because you use a single strand of cream coloured yarn?....what is the alternative if I am using a different yarn?

How do you keep the chains for the mohair open? I’ll go to do the chain 3 but when I go back to the first one all three of my chains have shrunk 🥲

Thanks for this! One question: when we do not increase in the corners we just have to do only one double crochet or 2 without chains in between? Thanks!
