Awesome pattern. So easy to follow. I did mine with a 4 ply merino wool from the Bendigo woollen mill and it turned out beautifully. Just took a tiny bit longer but still grew really fast. Thanks again for the pattern.

I love what you have done with this. I haven’t done a shawl before, but I’m pretty experienced with crochet, but of course just not as much as yourself. The only thing I would say is I wish you were in a little bit slower in the beginning. I kept having to pause it. But what I love about you is that you don’t “talk down” to your audience if you know what I mean. there are other people who do that on KZbin... they go TOO slowly and it’s quite annoying. Thanks again for your incredible creativity and spunk. I really love your designs and as a painter myself, now I feel like I’m expressing myself with yarn. What I like about this pattern is the open lacy stitch which Is difficult to find in this top to. bottom type pattern. This way of working a shawl allows for some fun stripes and textures. Thank you for sharing.

Fiber Spider, I loved the pattern. I was ableto work on it at my crochet group and it was simple enough when I was gabbing with the Chix that I didn't get lost on the count. Thank you for the pattern! As for a suggestion for the future, would you consider doing some filet and other shawls not in the triangle, but with a boxed rectangle bottom edge? Sometimes sitting on that triangle edge it not comfortable and it pulls on the shoulder when you drape it.

I love the fishnet shawl but I find it very fiddly, I like projects where you go into chain spaces instead of stitches. Hope this makes sense. Any help would be appreciated. I love the shawl but ran short of yarn. I made it with a caron cake and size I hook. Was my tension to tight or do I need to use a different size hook ? I added on to the one I made and still like the way it turned out. thanks for any suggestions .

+M Perkins everyone's tension is as unique as a thumbprint, and there is nothing wrong with being unique. You can always increase your hook size to accommodate size/gauge differences to an extent. Changing your tension is like all of a sudden having to become ambidextrous - it's possible but NO fun, lol. The beauty of this pattern is that finished size is relative to what you want, so ultimately do what is right for you. Whatever you do though - keep stitching! 😊

+heather griffin experimentation and thinking outside of the box helps us to grow - go for it! As for my hands, I'm sorry if it's distracting or difficult to get past - I think it's a combination of too much coffee, not eating enough, and the general excitement of doing another tutorial. my mom is such an odd width and height....she is a UK 14 across but only 5ft tall.. yeah i know BUT i'm stuck as it is a surprise gift for her ....can you please please please give me a rough length and width in inches i could do for her. I hate turning chains. Anyway you could show us how to use a stitch marker because I would like to crochet this but turning chains are not my friends. And you seem very nice so please don't give me feedback that is not nice. I am only asking a question I know you don't have to This is a nice pattern Plus only two rows of repeat. My kind of project. Can you use cheaper yarn Too because this yarn is getting crazy expensive now . Stay being nice and don't change.

+Carolyn Baesler, first off remember rule number 1 - don't sweat the small stuff. Rule number 2 - everything is small stuff. 😊 Technically speaking, you can use any yarn for this project, I just personally like the color change as the piece grows. Get creative and be adventurous, lol. As for turning chains, I know only too well how beastly they can be! My first suggestion is to crochet your turning chains just a bit looser than your other stitches which will help when you have to stitch into them again on the return pass. As for stitch markers, I usually use a little scrap of yarn pulled through the stitch. However you can of course use a paper clip hooked into the stitch, a safety pin would be even better. There are locking stitch markers out there for sale, but I'm a frugal crafter and like to save where I can. I do hope this helps and that you keep stitching 😉

Hi Carolyn. As a 50+ year crocheter I can honestly tell you I couldn't live without placing open-ended split stitch-markers (must be open-ended markers, not solid ring-type) in each and every turning chain I make. It's really well worth the trouble. Here's how: First, read your pattern row directions to determine which chain you need to place your stitch (or slip stitch, whatever) into when you get to the end of your NEXT row. Most of the time it will be the 3rd chain, even if you've been instructed to chain 4 (more later). Get to the instruction in your pattern where it tells you to chain 3, chain 4, etc. This can be before or after you turn, depending on the pattern directions. Now, start your chain...you'll see a some interlocking "V's" (Fiber is a master at showing us where and how many there are). Place your split marker under the 2 legs of the "V", most of the time it will be in the 3rd chain, or the 3rd "V"; this is where so many folks have trouble getting their hooks into the chain. Think of the marker as a "pre-placement" site for your hook. Go ahead and place your marker there, even if you've been instructed to chain 4 or more. Just place your marker and do one or more extra chains. Your marker will be right there in the 3rd chain when you get back to the end of that row. Then, instead of doing the wiggly-waggly into that 3rd chain, just slip your hook right into that chain ALONG with the existing marker. Once you're connected and your new stitch is made, you can slip the marker out of the chain to be reused in the next chain on the next row. I hope this hasn't been too confusing.
