Good man. Specifically the part about ALWAYS wiping optical discs _radially,_ from center to edge. Any data errors introduced by scratches created in that way are MUCH easier to correct with the drive electronics.

Great job. Looked like some slight water intrusion? Settling at the rusty looking areas. Moisture fogged up the unit and the disc. Did you do anything later on that?

Car did have random areas water had gotten into ie drivers floor ect so moisture is not surprising. Ended up selling it an getting a newer one with no rust. Still have to clean the nav reader on the new one as it randomly checks out while driving.

Hey, thanks for to the tip how to clean the dvd player for the navi, I cleaned the lens and still the same problem , I am going towards the disc that is messed up, I have two discs and both are saying "please check your disc" I will let you know what happens next.

Hi, mine is 2004 Lexus rx330 but it has the issue with not ejecting the dvd disc and now after seen your video it tells me I might as well try and check mine too. How did you guide the disc manually to eject it again. Could you kindly explain how exactly you did it, kinda lost in there? Thanks much.

What if I don’t have a disc in mine? I just bought it and I haven’t taken it apart yet but mine just says please check disc it hasn’t ever popped up with anything else. I really don’t care for navigation but I really want to hear the radio and put a new one in with my sub but I don’t know if I can just bypass the nav and get a new radio and be able to listen to music without navigation

It's possible the disk is stuck in there, mine was and I thought it didn't have one either. If u can pull the cd rom out in the trunk it's not to bad to open it up. Once it's open check for disc and clean it really well as well as the cd lens reader in the cd rom. If it doesn't have a disc you can get one thru Acura that's updated or possibly find one used online or on acurazine market place. Seen one on there for 40 bucks. Hope this helps. Good luck!

You can still activate your radio without the nav unit using the 1-6 buttons on the console to enter it. Check the owner's manual.

I HAVE AN 07 TL MY TL DIDNT COME WITH A DISK BOUGHT A 2018 DISK WOULD THAT BE THE PROBLEM. GOING TO TRY AND CLEAN THE LENS HERE IN A BIT

This fix only applies if your screen says disc unformatted or disc read error. If your screen is black and won't turn on I would look at replacing the whole navigation unit with a good used one. Gl

Nah I think each tl has its own radio and nav codes. You can call an acura dealer with your Vin and get at least one of these numbers to get you started.

Mine shows updating then goes straight to Please check your disc. What version disc does everyone have that has a working unit? I thought maybe the disc versions is too old? The disc in the drive is like new with no scratches. I also cleaned the drive lens.

My disk was probly original as it was pretty dirty as was the lens. Mine still booted tho after cleaning of course. Maybe able to find a used one on acurazine marketplace

I am having the same issue. Tried everything in the video and still no luck. Not having backup camera is the real problem. Did you get yours working?

@@hantopia so my bu cam worked it was just the navigation that wouldn't work on that car. What I did in the video fixed my nav issue tho.
