Planning on trying this with a few slight variations to make taking my son to the bus easier... slits for my hands to come through (for holding little hands and backpacks, a hoodie pouch pocket on the front (for phone and keys) and an opening across the chest with an added baby hood for when I'm wearing my daughter in a carrier! Hands free at its finest for taking my son to the bus this winter.

I have made several of infant car seat ponchos from your video and a person that bought one said that if I made an adult one that she would buy them also. So very glad I saw your video on the adult one. I thought it would be more complicated, but it isnt. Love your videos, you are so real. I’ll have to go find the one you did for the kid size. I’d like to make one for my grand kids. Great video and great instructions. Just an FYI, because I am a little OCD when I am sewing, I have found that when I’m working with anything that I have to match up right sides to right sides, I always fold my fabric right sides together before I cut it, that way I don’t have e to try and figure out where everything should match up.

Thank you for the tutorial. Last Christmas I wanted to make a few phocho's for gifts, but could not find a pattern or video that was what I wanted. Your's was exactly what I was looking for. I think I will try making mine out of a fabric similar to a light wool fabric. Your fleece one looks great, I just want to try it with less bulky fabric first. I might try adding a kangroo pocket to the center front like on hoodies for holdinghold gloves/warm hands. Really cute idea and whoever you gifted it to is one lucky person.

I have two colors of layered fleece and I can’t figure out how to position the hood to get the colors right and whether to aim the hood inward or outward. It looks like hood faces inward and down and is clipped inside the two cape layers at the back with cape layers right sides together and hood right sides out. When sewing, do we stitch the inner neck edges or on the outside of the neck edges? Wonder what is easier. When done sewing, turn outer cape right side out. Find hood. Stuff inner layer into hood and neck hole. It should be all correct now. To fix anything, push inner layer through hood again and I guess, turn outer layer inside out again. My memory is terrible so I’m going to remind myself....there was no way I was getting the 4 layers under that walking foot, so I separated the task . I sewed one layer of hood to the outer layer and the inner layer of hood to the inner layer of cape. In the same position only separated. Then I sewed the front neck. The inner cape tucked inside of the neck the same way.

I have not done one by hand. In my opinion it would be very difficult because of the thickness of the fleece and seams.
@ashleycifone3097
@ashleycifone3097 3 жыл бұрын
It would definitely be tedious, but I wonder if an embroidery needle could be helpful with the density when seeing by hand? Definitely can be done, just longer or course.

@@ashleycifone3097 if you want to make it by hand add a couple inches to each side as a seam allowance and tie it like a tie blanket. That would work for the poncho part, not sure about the hood.
