Funny how we forget the old DIY ways ....I made a whole shoulder rig out of PVC back it the day. lol. Thanks for the reminder

Oh wow you were the second result for me after Peter McKinnon's video that has 600k+ views but I was attracted to the 20 bucks price tag. I watched your video and checked your view count, I can't believe this video only has 500 views. I left a like and a comment, thanks for sharing your way of doing this!

That is awesome to hear! I really appreciate the kind words for sure! I still use this setup today. I’m thinking about using some black spray paint I have in the garage and paint it. It has held up really well. Hope you subscribed!

Thanks for the tip on this rig. I just made one myself, but since my setup is also mobile, I added 2 C clamps to hold the rig firm to the folding table that I'm using.
@RichardOles3 жыл бұрын
Nice Idea. For the center section of pipe, you could have used a custom length of 36-40", along with the added length that the 90's provide--given that your table can still accommodate this added width--Those flanges should be out of the shot with minimal to (possibly) no zooming in. Other than that tweak, I think this is a pretty cool Idea. Thanks for sharing.
@grandpastreasurechest2 жыл бұрын
Was just thinking this myself. Standard overhead rigs are 36" wide, and with the thickness of the pipe, it would be fine. No zooming, wider shot for overhead views.Going to try this out myself.

Thank you for this tutorial! I’m about to return a $47 boom arm that wasn’t compatible with my tripod, and I was trying to figure out what I could do for a top down shot! I’m definitely headed to Home Depot!

I actually loved this idea so much I made my own from your concept creation. But used 3/4 in PVC and also in 3ft sections instead of 2ft. As a Tarot Reader I needed space as well as camera stability. To add that the 3/4 in. PVC holds my heavy Sony A68 to profection.

@@RoyFlorez went really well actually. I went for table legs which were a bit more expensive but also sturdier for the base. Overall, I’m super happy with the construction. Paid round about 50€ for everything. Will have a video on it on my channel soon! Thanks for the huge inspiration! :)

Hey awesome video. I'm gonna make this rig right away. I just switched from 1 video to your video and i noticed your voiceover is a bit low in terms of volume. you can use a collar mic, it won't look bad instead it would encourage people to stop hiding mic and focus more on clear voice quality.

This is like a two year old video. Feel like my mic game has stepped up for sure. Watch some more recent videos and report back. Thanks for the comment!!!

I see you're video says you need six 2ft pipes but on are using three for the setup. Are the other 3 used to extend?

So, I want to build a removeable overhead rig for filming my sewing tutorials. I'm wondering is there some sort of clamp I can put on each end to clamp it on the table. My table is antique and want to screw anything onto it and if I just sit it there it'll get in the way. Any suggestions for me? I'm using my backdrop bar right now and so awkward. 😔

Dude. I’m doing tomorrow. Thank you. Although have you thought about using a split lock washer to keep the camera always snug and decrease your chances of the camera from falling off. Just saying. But thanks for the video.

Why don't you make it taller and wider, so that you have more room to play with on zoom? I plan to make something like this tomorrow.
@RoyFlorez4 жыл бұрын
I have extra pieces to do that but I don't necessarily need it taller for my videos. I did make it wider so the floor flanges go all the way to the edges of the table. I'm using clamps to keep it nice and secure.

Yeah, that’s what I’m saying though, you paid a lot for each floor flange. Unless you got some “higher end” ones but the ones I got are like $7 each. Looking at them right now. Regardless, $44 for the setup still isn’t terrible
@Madxcot Жыл бұрын
@@RoyFlorez yeah for sure. Still better price than other set ups I've seen. These flanges look identical to the ones in your video. I'm not sure what is different about them. They were the only ones in 1 inch. Maybe online is cheaper? Regardless, still a good buy. I have a heavy nikon d850. So I'm going to screw the setup into a flat board.
