I love this ornament for so many reasons. So beautifully done with great embellishments, and I’m obsessed with the little red truck, so fifties with beautiful memories of my childhood Christmas’. That crackle application is the best. I like the one application. All your wonderful work produced an ornament anyone would love to own. Or better still, a great gift for special family and friends.

Hello, I realize this video is older but do you remember where you purchased the gold trim you used on the ornament? It is so beautiful.

Hi Jan, Thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed this video. I've had that trim for probably 10 years. I love it and use it all the time. I have no idea where I got it. I'm going to say maybe Joanne's fabrics. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖

If i tried to tap the paint brushes together. I would make a mess. How long did it take to learn that technique? I am glad i found you. Thank you .

Hi there! I'm glad you found me as well! Did you make the paint very thin and watery? Also a fan brush works best. You'll need to tap it lightly. Try tapping it with your finger instead of tapping it against another brush. Practice on a plain piece of paper until you get the feel for it. Let me know if this works. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖

I loved watching this tutorial. I do have a question. Did you print the red truck with a laser color printer or an inkjet printer? I have found my inkjet prints tend to "run" the color so I was wondering if you sealed the print before mod Podge if you used an ink jet? Thanks so much! Angela

Hi Angela, I'm so pleased that you enjoyed this video! I printed the picture with an inkjet printer. If you print with an inkjet, the ink will definitely run if you don't seal it first. But don't try to use any type of brush on sealer, they are water based and will make your ink run. Use a spray on clear matte sealer and give it a couple of coats front and back. It will dry really fast. I'll leave you a link for the one I use. It works perfectly! I have actually recently found a product that works so much better than Mod Podge for decoupaging. It's called Polyvine. You can't buy it in stores, so I'll leave you a link for that as well, and it's a safe link. I use it to glue it down and to seal it afterwards. There are several different formulas, but for normal everyday items I use the "decorators varnish" If you are doing coasters and need heat and water resistance you'd use the "heavy duty wood varnish" I think you'll like it. Thanks for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖 Matte spray sealer (Amazon): amzn.to/3j19tGm Polyvine Varnishes: decoupagenapkins.com/pages/search-results-page?q=polyvine%20varnish&sca_ref=3969749.C8aAXEduCt

Thank-you for your assistance. This is very helpful information. I will check out the products. I have been looking at the Polyvine Varnishes for sealing my coasters I am making. They didn't have that last year when I purchased my napkins from decoupage napkins. I do have another questions. I see that you are using a gloss varnish, would you mind sharing what brand of gloss varnish. I noticed that you store it in a jar. Thanks again for such wonderful videos and your assistance. @@masoncreationsetc

Hi Angela, Polyvine is excellent, but it's hard to find. The link I gave you will take you right to the Polyvine section. I'll leave you a link for the gloss varnish I used. It's really nice. Goes on thick and self levels. Water clean up. It comes in a can and I believe it's a quart. I store it in a big mason jar because the rim of the can gets nasty. I use it a lot! It's actually waterproof as well, but I'm not sure if it's heat resistant, so it may not be good for coasters. Good Afternoon, I have a question maybe you can answer. I'll start with the supplies I have/used. Purchased wood ornaments, painted with white acrylic paint, printed images and sealed with the 2x matte acrylic spray you recommended, I actually printed mine on a printable rice paper from Amazon which required a bit more drying time after sealing. I tore the images to soften the edges, decoupaged onto the little painted wood blanks, waited for then to dry and then went back around the edges of the paper to attempt to blend in to the wood blank. I can still see an edge of the image even after trying to blend the paint. I tried a brush and a little sponge pouncer. Is there a technique I'm missing? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I just ordered the polyvine wood varnish. I am looking forward to using this. Thanks for all your great videos and look forward to some Christmas you might have coming up. Oh...I am using little paint jars you can get at Home Depot mixed in a multitude of colors. Right now I have white and a slightly off white but lots of colors of craft paints. Hi Angela, sounds like you did everything correctly. Because rice paper is so fibrous, it doesn't disappear. You didn't miss a step. It's impossible to make edges disappear completely. Napkins are the most invisible because they're so thin, and even then, you can slightly see the edges. The Polyvine does help hide edges a little better than the mod podge. Do you want to email me a picture of what you're having trouble with? Maybe I can offer a solution. Sometimes we look at things a little too closely and are very critical with our own creations. No one else will look at it as close as you are. I'm so used to seeing those edges, that it doesn't bother me anymore. lol... I'll leave you my email address below. I'm happy to take a look 😊 Don't you love getting your craft paints mixed at Home Depot? I actually started doing that during covid when craft supplies were almost impossible to find. I liked it so much, I just kept buying them there. 📧My email: masoncreationsetc@yahoo.com
