Subscribe for new videos every week. I'm in the process of making two bathroom vanities for a relative and thought it would be a great opportunity to show how easy it is to make a simple slide out tray for any cabinet. You can use this method in a kitchen, bathroom, or even a shop cabinet for tools. I would use better slides if you want to use them for tools though.

i made a cabinet/work table for my small basement workshop and used this to great result. I made a slide out tray for my 3 gallon compressor (on the bottom like your example here) and also a deep drawer (9'') above the compressor for plastic tools like feather boards, pusk stiocks and my grrripper. I've seen all the cideos and can't wait for the next one.

For what it's worth, I thought the wrap up was fantastic. Showing what is the minimum required toolset vs what you used and how it's easier is a great approach. I know many of us novices have a limited number of tools so knowing what we can expect helps! I've grown my tool collection to make life easier but this was a helpful bit nonetheless.

Jay, You're a very good teacher and an inspiration. I was tired of my shelf and pegboard mess in my garage and instead of making drawers or cabinets I made a 48" bench about 42" high and 24" deep against the old messy wall. I've made the sliding shelves as you have done here. I still have pegboard above (even more actually) but with deep sliding shelves, they hold more supplies with easier access. BTW, I downloaded sketch-up but it didn't speed up this particular project. I was spending so much time trying to learn the program that I decided to just go cut some wood and get started (finished). I've been watching the tutorials on sketch-up as well as your videos, and I wanted to thank you for your contributions.

I don't have any intention of making a vanity anytime soon. But I always like watching anyways because I always learn something. Half way through the video I realized that this would totally solve some storage issues under my bathroom and kitchen sinks. I already have slides. Already have plywood. Thanks for the idea.

This has come at just the right time. At our age getting to the bottom kitchen and vanity cabinets is becoming difficult. Purchased a couple slide outs online. Good quality and easy to install but unbelievably expensive. Been looking for a way to easily build some for awhile and I think this is it. Any chance of doing a video on a second shelf? Thanks Jay, always enjoy your videos

Back at the cabinet shop, we called these roll-out shelves. They were a $50 add-on option for base cabinets. We did a lot of them in kitchen sink bases - usually on the left side, for some reason. About half of them also incorporated a trash can holder. Easy to make and, as you said, the cost is pretty low.

Thanks for the video. I think I will do this to my kitchen sink cabinet as its a pain to reach to the far back of it to grab something in the rear of the cabinet. This add-on to kitchen cabinets is fairly costly, but you can do it for a fraction of the cost. Just be sure to check out the weight specs of the slides so you don't over work them.

Jay Bates Festool has something called a Sysport (www.amazon.com/Festool-SYS-PORT-1000-2-Systainer/dp/B00149B7NU) that holds several of their tool systainers. I started to design one that uses your slides that looks like their unit did but way below what they charge for theirs. Then I thought like you did, why not integrate the Festool products I have right into my workbench using the same trays you designed with the Euro slides. Works for me. Thanks,

Thanks for the idea. I'm actually in the middle of a workbench project that I think could use this feature, maybe on one side and make two drawers for my smaller items. The other half of the cabinet could be left as an open cabinet. Seeing how you used the hardware explains the process. I've not done this before.
