I used to live in Norfolk in my twenties. I NEVER bought food! I surf-fished and crabbed the Chesapeake Bay and ate for free. I only bought beer and TP! Now I am in my fifties and I have retired to the central Oregon coast. I live within a two-minute leisurely walk between a bay and beach. Different game out here with these fish. Thanks to ***YOUR*** videos and a few tricks I learned as a younger man -- my friends can't understand how I'm doing so well! I agree with your beliefs on fishing. That is the reason I moved to where I live now. Also, your dad is the coolest! I love seeing him in your videos! Seems like a fantastic guy who knows his game. Special thanks to him for raising such a cool son and passing along his knowledge! Tight lines!

I agree with you about fluorocarbon being just as visible as mono. The main reason for using fluorocarbon is that it's a lot more abrasion resistant and it doesn't have the memory or stretch that mono has. So it will lay flat and not coil up. The only time I use it is when fishing for yellowtail snapper or mangrove snapper in super clear water. I keep a spare spool with fluorocarbon just for that. I also use it when fishing around pilings for snook. However, I only use it for the leader. In those cases, it definitely makes the difference and isn't worth doing without it. Keep up the awesome videos. The kids and I really enjoy them.

You are right on. Hi-low rigs are the best rigs even with bigger hooks for drum. Much more productive than sliding sinker rigs. But I'm lazy and like to support local the local economy so I buy them at tackle shops down by the beach that make their own.

I got motivated to start rod fishing after enjoying your channel even though nearest sea is about one hour and a half drive, yesterday I bought all the things needed to start rod fishing. I spent two hours figuring out how spinning reel work because I have never tried fishing before, once I figured out how I was ready to cast it. I camped for a day at the beach in a remote area and it was so much fun to learn rod fishing even though I didn’t catch a single fish😂. The problems that I couldn’t get to solve or avoid when beach fishing are, 1- not knowing how to pick a good spot for beach fishing, I mean how do I know if this beach is good and that one isn’t or in other words harder( because there are just so many places ). 2- the rod I bought is 4meters long so it’s pretty long for a beginner I guess, so the problem I faced is even though it is long I couldn’t cast it more than approximately 30 meters which is the problem because I tried rod fishing in three or four spots but the sea level was lower than my knees for about 50 meters inside the sea then there’s like a gap where sea level starts to get deeper, I couldn’t cast it far enough into the deep sea so that’s why I tried different spots, the last spot I tried I believe was perfect for someone with more experience rod fishing because the gap was way nearer about 15 meters, anyway I started casting but my sinker got stuck in the gap I think it got stuck between rocks or some seaweed. 3- last problem I wasn’t able to avoid was how to stop my rig from getting stuck to rocks and seaweed. A note to myself, never try beach camping in a desert climate in summer! I spent a day there even though I enjoyed the experience but it was soooooo hot. I guess this is by far the longest comment I ever typed in KZbin haha. I am really into rod fishing but the problems I just mentioned are making it harder for me to enjoy it more so please share the knowledge with me and peace ✌️

@HeySkipper3 жыл бұрын
Agreed
@AdityaSingh-xj7wi3 жыл бұрын
You could also use a loop knot for your sinker , it actually saves you money , make a loop knot ( make sure it's big like double the size of your sinker) insert it through the eye of your sinker and once the whole loop is throught the sinker , put the sinker into the loop and pull the knot up and it holds perfectly and its extremely strong (you should try it , its similar to how you use the loop on the hook)

So .. How would you suggest using these floats. Surf fishing? Add weight? Bobbers should not be used on piers. So. Do I use a weight to bring it down. For pier fishing? Or not use it from a pier. Why three different bobbers? Anyhow .. Thanks Skipper, you are always there for us.

You're "buffet" fishing. Mono is A-ok. But. When you're targeting bigger species, particularly when it's super expensive just to get to the fishing grounds, you NEED a topshot on top of a braid, when deep. That initial shock from a big fish needs that stretch.
