This video shows how you can make as many blackberry plants from softwood cuttings add you want. The initial view are 50-60 blackberry plants I created from cuttings.
This video shows a simple way to make new blackberry plants.
Start usually 6 weeks after new growth. The plant has to be a little firm. Make cuttings about 6-9" in length, cutting above or below the crotch of the plant.
Place in perlite that wicks water from the bottom. It should root in a few weeks!

I am getting ready to prune my prime ark freedom plants and highly recommend them instead. They bear two crops a year and are much more hearty and prolific. I wish you would have shown the watering. How often are you watering ? Do you keep them in the sun always ? What do you do if it rains? How big do the roots need to be before transplanting?
@PlantPropagationUSA
@PlantPropagationUSA Жыл бұрын
My current system floods the pot every 7 minutes, is shaded, it will always drain every 7 minutes or so. I’ll transplant rooted cuttings when they have a few roots. You need to make sure those are in the shade and watered well for a few weeks. When roots grow out the base, you can probably plant in garden. Check out my aquaponics videos to understand the system.

@PlantPropagationUSA
@PlantPropagationUSA Жыл бұрын
I’ve heard that playing in woodchips can propagate as well. They would probably have to be late in the season, keep damp and in the shade. I’ve never tried this method. Or if you place some in perlite with a water base, it could work. Shade and keep humid.

@PlantPropagationUSA
@PlantPropagationUSA 3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the type of issue it has. Personally I’d focus on soil fertility, keep propagating the plant. If it is a severe disease, it might make sense to replace with a more disease resistant variety.

I do not, but there are fish in the system which does produce some nutrients that the plants want. I’d say minimal in this system. I’m currently testing another batch in solo cups in sand/perlite, biochar, etc. stay tuned for my latest videos.

How long have your cuttings been growing? Several people , adept in propagating/farming, have rooted thornless blackberries. Our experience is the live a maximum of 7 years. Cuttings from new plants *MIGHT* live 2 years. Sounds weird, but wild key limes cuHave a degree in botany (not horticulture) yet I can't explain why. Makes me think thornless blackberries have been "pre-programmed to die. Kinda like "planned obsolescence" =???

Blackberry plants are biennial so the canes grow year 1 with not fruit and then they produce fruit the 2nd year and die off. The root system will produce new canes on year 3 and the cycle repeats itself.

LOL,,, WRONG. The seedless plants that are on the side of my garage are at least 25 years old. Please explain that? 2nd year stalks/ canes will produce fruit at least twice, before they START to die off.
