Thanks a lot for making this video. We have a Vijayalakshmi wet grinder from 5 years ago that suddenly stopped working. It is very similar to the one you have shown. I was able to easily get to the bearing using a combination of WD-40 cleaner + WD-40 Lithium Grease to get it working again like new. Every single tip you have given in this video helped. The best part, of course, is the dosa and idli at the end of the video :D

Hey bro , I have a usha table top grinder , the body of mine grinder is fully different from u r s , but the problem is ,the grinder was not in use since 4 years .. yesterday I on my grinder it is working , there is no problem in rotating .. but the problem is it is heating a lot , the capacitor of that motor is turning very hot , but motor is also turning hot .. but it is running .. just I on for less than 1 minute some smell came and after that smoke also came from inside after that I just opened the grinder .. all cocoroch dust etc waste was there I just cleaned little bit .. so tell me what to do, how to fix it , should I open the motor and clean inside it ?Or is there any problem in the capacitor ? The problem is only heating ... And once when I on for less that 1minute some amount of smoke also came ... Pls reply bro ...

If it is for one year idle not to worry. In engineering term there is a routine called machinery turning. Just switch it on for one minute at least once in 06 months. By doing this our equipment will be safe from any jamming due to moisture

We have a 20 year old grinder (used about once a week), should I try this servicing or get a new one? It has a startup problem, stays stuck until turned by hand a few times. Also makes screeching noises and runs slow. Ultra service discouraged servicing saying all parts would have worn out anyway and told me to get a new one. I can try servicing myself in case it is a simple problem like cleaning bearings.

Yes yes it is one of the cause. I tell you simple example. Even the capacitor of fan in our home becomes weak we will try to turn it mean of pen pencil or with stick. Once we do that, the fan starts rotating. The same thing applicable here also. Actually there will be two windings like starting and running 👍👍👍

At 7:32 you are applying gear oil to the inner part of the ABS cap on the gear..is that correct to add lubricant to that as that has to Grip on to the outer layer of the bearing tightly...so should we not add contact glue like araldite to the inner layer to have the gear sit tightly??? Can pls explain.tks.

Some of the components are press fitted. Why don't you think about heat generation by equipment and evaporation of high viscosity of oils at particular temperature. It doesn't make the bearing to slip. If you apply feviquick like sticking liquids it may give grip but think about the plastic component again when you replace the required part. The press fitted clearance plays very important role when you run wet grinder at full load and when its draws high starting current initially. Running current is as usual 👍👍👍👍

@@LambrettaRamesh yes agreed. Thanks for the reply. I asked because I saw another repair video where a thin layer of A and B compound. Which is a plastic like glue is layered thinly..using one's finger on the inside of the plastic cap and left to dry. This is probably done to compensate for the cap losing its grip on the bearing due to wear on the inside (?) So I was sceptical and thought that slippery lubricant would make it worse as the bearing try to turn the cap with a higher load. So i think maybe the use of the plastic compound is not to "stick" like faviglue but after drying it would give a better fit when the cap is pressed in to the bearing outer. Anyway agreed its not to be glued onto the bearing outer for the heat reasons and torque. Thanks. Appreciate the reply.

Please check for any clearance between base of rotating tub and stones. There should not be any gap. Second thing is check for the stone holder for free suspension of rotating stones. Inspect guide grooves on stones for proper displacement of batter. If groove line on stones become less depth then also stones won't rotate properly

Normally we can't find visually. But happens according to your saying at worst case scenario. We need to test it with multimeter. Please remember before testing discharge capacitor. Because it will have residual power even if it is not in use. But powered once. It's a safety point.

You may take the bearing to the bearing shop near to you. They will recognize the number from the bearing and they will give you the same which is required for the operation. If you are little experienced you can also find the number from the bearing. If not so. Straight away take it to the bearings shop.
