Well my friend, you just blew my mind again with a project that will be perfect up here in the PNW and also be able to be made by a disabled USMC Vet with old tools. This one is really nice and will be great when I finish the bench and planters to match this. Awesome as always. Semper Fi!

Penofin red has a nice cedar color. I use that on all my outdoor cedar pieces. It allows the red colors to stay for at least a year before you need to reapply. That is, if you wanna go that route and not allow it to brown naturally.

Beautiful piece! I don't have a fire pit, but a lot of my neighbors do. Maybe there's an "earning" not just a learning opportunity here as well? They haven't run them much this year 'cuz the temps have been dastardly. Also, California is a little sensitive to (lower to whisper) f-i-r-e. Oh, Mr. Build It and his wife are building an A-frame cabin in Idaho. I'll stop by his channel and send him your channel to watch. Thank you for filming and sharing your videos with us - I know it's a lot of hard work and I'm always appreciative of the results.

Matthew,this is the perfect time of year to get this done with fall on the horizon and winter coming, one thing I'd personally change though, is when it comes to the shingles,I'd use screws rather than brad nails simply due to the fact that after awhile,I'd expect the shingles to show wear and tear,especially if its subjected to heavy use over the course of the winter,especially here in Winnipeg ;) so removing damaged/rotted shingles by unscrewing them and replacing them might be easier.....
@chrisbrown4564 ай бұрын
Also,I'd be half tempted to add caster wheels to the bottom if I wanted to make it easier to move around on the patio for outdoor use
@MatthewPeechWoodworking4 ай бұрын
I like the idea! The brad nails were just to hold the pieces into place until the screws were applied.

Nice job with these. I make a more rustic version from half a pallet as a base and 6' long sections of galvanized roofing as the sides. The best part is that with a set of forks on the tractor, I can move them to the woodpile to fill them, to the back of the property to dry, then to near the house during burning season.

wonderful and great looking build, the only potential problem I see is, placing it close to the house like that, if you have termite issues or a pest control company, they will not spray with wood stacked against the house and could possible terminate your service contract.

Good looking product. And never noticed that you wear steel toed in your personal shop. Maybe it was just this one time. Who knows. Btw. Shop at Ashley’s. Just saying. Lol. I would prob finish both side if not for personal as people buying stuff shhheshhh. And I would want to finish ridge either with the black or cedar for personal even. Though I believe your way would mostly work, just a personal preference. Ty for the idea and video. Thinking about making something like this soon for my personal use.

Can someone tell me what the little measuring tool he always uses is? I’m not even sure if he used it in this video but he does in almost every build. It is for marking small measurements like just an inch or two. I think it is red
