I came across the same chords a year ago when my left hand had a tendinitis. I was unable to play for a long time and then I started again progressively and those two-fingers chords were the only thing I could play without hurting myself again. Simple chords are beautiful and eerie. Great video !

Crazy story. Thanks for sharing. I haven't thought about how useful this kind of way could be when you're not able to use your four fingers anyway. Hope you better meanwhile.🙏

Tonight Tonight by Smashing Pumpkins is an example that how simple and beautiful sounds you can make using Just one finger and chromatic chords. Nice guitar and tone you have by the way

This was great! I do this same exercise (including using an app/website to figure out the chord names). Identifying the chord names can be incredibly useful when trying to make a song reproducible and finding other chords to stack (when playing with another person or tracking an additional guitar), also helpful when fumbling through chord scales and the circle of 5ths trying to make interesting chord progressions and understanding WHY they work together. Chord scales are INCREDIBLY helpful for writing interesting chord progressions that work well and then altering from there. I personally will make chord charts for these "interesting" fingerings and put them into a Word document so that I have a bind full of references for interesting and dreamy chords to pull from. My personal favorite dream chord formation is a D7 shape on the B, G and D strings (so an Amaj7 and moving the position up and down the fret board) with everything open with a touch of chorus. Too dreamy! Keep up the excellent videos Kenneth! \m/

amazing content! helped me get my first songs out!! you're a very cool teacher!!! this is standard tuning right? will you explore more two finger chords in other open tunings?
@berlinshoegazer2 жыл бұрын
Hey Matte, thank you. Yes this is standard tuning. I haven't planned anything like that. But you could try to figure out some chords by doing the same thing I did in this video just in other tunings.

Hello, thx you, it’s very nice and useful 😊 I come from darkwave coldwave music (yes im older than u 😅😅) and that kind of chord system are often used (with clean chorus/flanger/delay/reverb etc…), sometime more darker chords 😊 to quote a well known band you can hear a good example with the song seventeen second from the Cure at the outro 😊 myself if often use altered chord of flamenco style like ie the Em then you make that 033200 (mix F/Em) then 055400 (mix G/Em) its very important to make the open string ringing 😊 you can also try chord like 244300 etc…

I apologize for the irrelevant question, but.. Can I possibly get that aspired "shoegaze" tone without a pedal of any sort? Can a PC and Amplifier suffice? On a budget rn lmao
@snackopsunit14093 жыл бұрын
If you go the plugin route, sure!
@berlinshoegazer3 жыл бұрын
Totally. In this video I used an impulse response cabinet without any amp in front of it. And just put a free reverb plugin after that signal. All free.
