We added a timer to our drip system. What a time saver

Just a word of caution on a lesson I learned the hard way. Those drip hoses will expand and contract in the summer heat much more than you expect. I had pinned my drip tube down nice and snug. As it contracted it pulled the drip tape hard enough to pull it out of the compression fitting. An easy fix but inconvenient. Solution: Pin them in place but not pressed down. Also don't pin/staple within a foot of the termination end. Good luck. I LOVE my drip system.

I feel like making as much as you can automated leaves you more time for things like keeping up with succession planting. It’s so worth it. Even if you have more time to pull weeds out your garden. 😕 Great video!

Great job on the drip system. We just finished our 8 zone irrigation system at the farm and been doing 4Gallon drippers on all our small trees its been so much nicer than hand watering all of them....

I can't tell if you also connected it to a timer - drip tape is wonderful but having the system automated is chef's kiss!

We haven’t yet! Still trying to decide what kind of timer we want to use.

Here’s a Tip: If you run out of those end row clips, you can take a 4” section of drip tape and flip it over like a Z shape. Then take a 4” off cut of the drip tape and slide it over the Z shape line. It’s a how some commercial farms do it on their end rows.

Just the high tunnel? Or the whole garden?
@LittleKi18 ай бұрын
If you buy irrigation components from a real supply company, as opposed to a retail center, it's much more affordable than you'd think. It's really some plastic bits and mass-produced tubing. Once you learn how to DIY it a bit, it's very accessible. The tunnel, though, is on my wish list! 🥲

Can you say more about drip vs soaker hose? You said you started with a soaker hose but drip is much better but I wasn’t sure why. Thanks!
@TheSeasonalHomestead8 ай бұрын
The main reason is I was constantly replacing soaker hoses. They would deteriorate in one or two garden seasons. Drip tape lasts longer, is easy to repair, waters more evenly and costs less.

Thanks! It's the Haven High Tunnel, gothic style, 96ft long. The end walls are dutch doors with the woven poly plastic.
