I had a weird issue where I disappeared after dropping the weapon and couldn't pick it back up. I then saved and loaded. After I wasn't able to pick up any items and when I would glide the camera zoomed in funny. I fixed this by doing the glitch again until I had another fused shield and then destroyed the fused control stick on the shield. This fixed it and you'll be able to pick up items again.
