one of the best early/mid game things to do is save up ~300 drams (exact amount depends on ego) worth of goods and head to bey lah to buy the guaranteed force bracelet. absolute lifesaver - you can recoil even with enemies around if you activate it. use this combo if you get in a bad situation underground. above ground you can just use wings to escape to the world map.

Interesting! Will try this sequence for my next character. I usually do Red Rock first, then Rust Wells, then I go straight for the Six Day Stilt. Next time, I'll try Rust Wells, then Red Rock, then the underground passage from Joppa (never managed to clear that), then the Stilt. For me, the Rust Wells always felt like the "second quest" due to the fact that they're a bit farther away from Joppa than Red Rock. But you probably have a point.

I was Team Red Rock First too before I did some theorycrafting around leveling. It's just that all this Qudzu is a reliable source of XP which is basically harmless. Red Rock on the other hand can be quite vicious right from Stratum 1. The cave below Joppa is 100% RNG btw and if you notice bad spawns happening in there it'll be way safer to just roam elsewhere. Have fun o/

@@Ic0nGaming That's so true. With my last character, I only ventured in the Joppa cave after Red Rock, Wells, AND reaching the Six Day Stilt. It still wasn't entirely a cakewalk. (I couldn't even find my way up without a recoiler, to be honest. Is it true that this cave connects to Red Rock strata 4 in such a way that you can reach the goal of the Mehmet quest entirely from the underground?) Not that it matters, anyway. Soon after that I contracted glotrot, panicked and died. Masterpiece of a game, I tell you.

Would love a run-down of the 6 day stilt area if you're up for it! And if there are any other semi-reliable quests in the early-mid game I'd be curious to see your way of tackling those as well!

Yeah, I'd love to see a guide for the Stilt. However, I'm not sure if there's a lot more to it that isn't obvious: you get the quest from Lulihart, you get XP from your Reseph secrets and your books, you do the water ritual with the warden and the priest, then you look around at the shops. Not sure if there's a whole lot more than that.

I wish I could figure this game out, or I'm very unlucky. Done a half-dozen runs, including two that follow your guides, and have never made it past level 3. Just got one-shotted on the first level of the Rust Wells - the guy did at least 22 points in one go.

On level 5 there's a map entrance leading north, that one leads to the actual Barathrumite Settlement.
