I just did the same thing to my place this year. The husband had already put up the fence, but it was missing Barbwire. Laid three strands up high. Had the same type of gate as you but found that people were constantly climbing over it. So I fixed that by attaching some cattle panels with small squares to the road facing side of the gate. Squares are too small to put your foot in for climbing . I took some bolt cutters and cut the top wire off of the cattle panel. This left vertical spikes sticking up, which I then sharpened with an angle grinder. I sleep much better at night. Well done video and entertaining at the same time. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels

Not to be rude, but that fence is only a suggestion without set braces. By cutting the ends off without wrapping once or twice around the post, if anything falls on it or it gets weather pressured the wire will slip or pop the staples off. Instead of tightening the the line to the gate post a golden rod style fencestretcher sucks all the slack out of the line rather than only the ten feet between the clips. All it would take is a tweeker with fencing pliers, a screw driver, and a foot nothing to flatten it and drive over it. I like the start though. Pacysephalasaurus btw.

Great video, but one thing I did notice at 18:03 I saw a Ulility pole with at least 2 risers on it. One thing I did not see is Utility Locates before said fence was installed. You have no idea of how many times in my line of work have I seen a couple dudes go,Hey let's put up a fence, then hit a gas lines because they didn't call 811. Just a thought.

Where I come from a fence needs to be placed in the appropriate surveyed position, where possible. I can't say that your fencing techniques would be looked on favorably by the volunteer teams doing BlazeAid fence restoration after floods or wildfires back home. But at least you are having a go and getting it done. If you were in Oz I could have loaned you my wire strainers!.

😳😮 It was looking like a good fence until I watched the barbed wire being attached to the wood post! Too many details to go into here…but short version…ends/corners of barbed wire fences need wood posts and wire ends are wrapped around the post, not just stapled to it. We would use a wood post every 8th post along a run for strength. Just be ready to do a lot of straightening and fixing, esp when a triceratops comes through! 😉 I realize the fence is more to dissuade humans, but a fence is a fence and it will see its fair share of critters running into it and will still need maintenance. Good luck!

I found shady people don’t come by if you hang a few animal carcasses near the road. Signs with bullet holes help also. In my case pit bulls = no visitors. I also prefer sticker bushes and wait a minute vines. Mother Nature always trumps fencing. Just takes time.
