Thank you for your lessons. I have been trying to learn Tagalog for six years and every time I use an expression and speak to my Filipina wife she tells me that they use English or Taglish . While it is that my wife's grandchildren are learning English in school in Philippines they are also speaking Tagalog at home. Never give up your culture when leave your country. Only continue to incorporate your ne we culture into your life as well. I grew up an Irish-German American and I deeply despise the English colonizers for robbing us of our original language. Keep teaching Tagalog to both young Filipinos and we non-filipinos who love your culture, and your people.

I want to say thank you for teaching us, in detail. Im trying to learn phases or dialogue while on my job. How do I say: I’m going to lunch. How many boxes do you want? How many do you need? Excuse me. What did you say? I’m working. Thank you ❤
@littlebrowncanadian2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching my lessons😊. Magla-lunch na ako. Ilang box ang gusto mo? Ilan ang kailangan mo? Sorry, di ko narinig ang sinabi mo (Sorry, I did not hear what you said) We need to rephrase the "Excuse me, whay did you say?" because it would sound rude if we translate it in Tagalog. 😊

I like the pictures and the information on day to day things. I am curious about the shopping, are they not worried about someone just taking stuff if the owner of the Sari sari store is not available? Also, I am having a hard time getting the pronunciation correct on the "ts" like in the word "Tsina". To my ears it sounds like a cross of "ch" and "sh".
@littlebrowncanadian3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jess, if the owner is not in the store they would usually close it or put a sign and lock it. For the "ts" sound, it is like the "ch" in English 😊

How do I know when an I sounds like E? Pabili sounds like PabilE, but Tabi sounds like TabI I'm confused
@littlebrowncanadian2 жыл бұрын
For conversational/spoken Filipino, the last syllable with an "i" can be pronounced as "e", but when writing it, the correct spelling should be followed. This rule only applies to the last syllable of the word.
@reinaldogomes86662 жыл бұрын
Yes, yes. I understand that. Only the last syllable. But, for example, this doesn't apply to the word "tabi" when you say it. So it seems that it doesn't happen in all cases where there's an I at the end of a word. So i was wondering if there's a rule to know which words have this change, or if it's just something we have to get used to, by hearing each word from natives
@littlebrowncanadian2 жыл бұрын
@@reinaldogomes8666 we also say "tabe" instead of tabi 🙂, same as sabi - say. In fact, there is an expression "an saveh!!?" (Complete sentence: Anong sabi?) or in Englsih, "what did he/say?" We use this expression when someone said something unbelievable.
