Thanks for filming this disassembly guide! Just did a cleaning of my G300s using this as a reference, much appreciated. Something I wanted to point out that's definitely worth a quick touch on the board is the left mouse button's micro switch (the top left white horizontal bar visible at 1:20). Given how sensitive the buttons are on this mouse, any amount of gunk accumulated on the switch itself can't be doing any favours for left click reliability.

In which part you fix the double click problem? No need for cleaning I think, watched video but only saw cleaning.

The video itself is fine, but the problem people refer to as "the double click problem" with these mice is normally caused by the switch, and can happen with a new mouse that's had no opportunity to accumulate dirt. I've got a G300s myself and it's had the problem ever since I bought it. I learned to live with it because it's still the most comfortable mouse I've ever owned and I don't want to deal with taking it apart or trying to replace it only to have the same problem with the new mouse.

the secret is to lightly sand the contact of the gray plastic part that pushes the click. the contact with the click naturally is already concave, the sandpaper will remove part of this concavity and will allow the plastic part to press the button. over time the contact of the gray plastic's click will deform.

I filled my sink up to a few inches (enough to fully submerge the mouse) with HOT water. Poured Dawn in while it was filling. Put mouse in. Shook it around over and over. Pulled it out, let the water drain, put it back in... rinse and repeat x 10 or so times. Then I let it soak for like 1-2 hours. Came back. Rinsed it out super good. Let it dry over a vent in my house for 8 hours. Good to go. Edit: FYI, mine is technically a G300s. Dunno if all G300's are G300s's or what. I have two of them. Alcohol just didn't do the job for the first one for me. So, I knew 140F water and dish soap would break up ANY gunk in there. You just have to let it dry before you plug it back in. I've cleaned many keyboards this way... right under the sink with water pouring all down the keys. Can't beat it. Yes, alcohol is SAFE (because it dries very fast) and a great disinfectant. But there are far better ways to actually remove GUNK from stuff. But water doesn't kill hardware. Water + electricity kills hardware. Gotta let whatever it is dry before using it again. Now, sure, for a CPU or GPU, I'm gonna use Q-tips and alcohol. But for a mouse or keyboard... I'm using soapy hot water. Sooo easy. 30 seconds of labor involved lol.

I'll be damned, it actually worked! I have a G300s that started the good old "release mid-drag without having released the button, oh and by the way re-press while you're hovering over something you don't want to click" a few days ago, and this fixed it, at least for now. I actually got this thing for free as a warranty replacement for my G100s that failed in the same way less than a year ago, so I'm happy it's not a total write off. And maybe I can repair the other mouse too, though I suppose that's not really in the spirit of Logitech's warranty terms. :) Using your video as reference, I opened up the mouse and tried testing the switches directly, only to find I couldn't reproduce my problem no matter how lightly I pressed the switch, or from what angle. My plan had been to use what I'd read elsewhere to open up the microswitch casing and retension the metal, but at this point I hesitated and decided to follow your procedure further. I didn't take the whole thing apart, only going so far as to pull the lenses out and pop the top plate, spray it all with compressed air, wipe things down with rubbing alcohol, remove an incredibly tiny piece of plastic flash ('sprue', I don't know) that I suspect was the larger part of my issue, and reassemble everything. Works like a charm now. It's a huge relief to know I won't have to do anything crazy, at least in the short term, like replacing the switches myself, or building one of these DIY 'debouncing' circuits described on Tom's Hardware: www.tomshardware.com/reviews/hack-mouse-click-do-it-yourself,4458.html I'll admit that does look like a cool project for people with old/rare/cherished mice they can't stand to replace. The mouse will no doubt fail again at some point (most likely within thirty seconds of posting this comment) and need more in depth repair, or replacement, but in the meantime I have much more reliable drags, so thank you!

@@OcDmn Two years late, yikes! Sorry I never answered you, but KZbin apparently decided not to notify me about your reply. I know it's too late to be useful to you, but for the sake of anyone else reading: This fix worked for about a year after my original post, at which point the problem happened again and I had to open up the switch casing and re-bend the spring. It worked, but about a year after THAT the right mouse button did the same thing, so again I opened the switch and adjusted the spring. Both buttons are still reliable, thankfully. Unfortunately, a month or two ago I started having trouble with middle click; it seems to have gotten better after a few weeks without really doing anything, so maybe it was just a piece of lint or something. If it happens again I think I'm pretty well screwed, since middle click is provided by a tactile switch, the ones that are little flat square boxes with a cylindrical button on top. As far as I know those are irreparable, and I'd be forced to replace the whole component, if that's even possible. At this point, the hexagon-patterned rubberized plastic on the left side has worn down to the bare casing in a spot directly under my thumb, so I imagine I'm well beyond the designed lifetime of this thing, and I don't see myself repairing it further. It looks nice and feels comfortable, but the components leave a little to be desired. Which I think is Logitech's slogan nowadays.

@@RobMartens whoa i asked this two years ago? lol how time flies. i got away without opening the bottom iirc, just unclasp the top and wipe the part that connected to the clicking switch and the problem goes away. had to do it like once or twice a year, but that's it. still using it but maybe it's time for me to look for replacement too before it actually break on me lol.

Can confirm that cleaning the mouse fixes the double click issue (for me it felt more like the click would release mid drag, which annoyed me af in games) also, to remove that transparent plastic thing, (which for some reason he didn't show how to remove), just use ur nails to open the interlocking mechanism, and then push one of them from outside (from where you can see the rgb light) with a coin or something similar, took 10-15 mins to figure it out, almost broke my nails doing it.

Heres some advise for people, use some lube on the back of the 'button' dont put it on the switch, I used some dry ptfe (dry lock lube) let it dry a little then itll be fine, atleast for me. If you clean it all properly and dont actually put lube where it will contact the switches it will cause friction and sheer forces on the top of the switch. Which will kill it fast. And I only came on here looking for the screw locations as I didnt want to remove the pads without reason, my mouse now works fine.

What worked for me was to take it apart only to the circuit board and spray canned air up all around the left click micro circuit. I wasn't able to figure out how to 'open' the micro circuit to bend the pin back in place like other comments have suggested. The issue seems to be resolved as of right now though.

G300 worked like 3 years, but it became hard to hold or press buttons so i bought g300s (g300 no longer available). After 14 months g300s had right mouse button up-down events while holding right mouse button down. There is a click sound that lets you know if button is released, which comes from metal spring inside the microswitch. And these up-down events appear under the click line. Bought another g300s and problem disappeared. So it seems g300s comes with faulty microswitches.

I think the 300s is cheaper construction quality and materials than the original 300. I had my 300 for 3-4 years before the buttons started to go, but I've gone through 3 300s's in the past 3 years. Now it appears Logitech has discontinued the line.

Of course this "solution" does't last, if it even works to begin with. The double click problem comes from the small metal blade inside de Omron micro-switch that does the "click". To adress the problem, one needs to open the micro-switch and re-bend that blade, or change the whol microswitch.
