Great video. Helped me a lot. I just want to add that if your scroll wheel is acting funny I recommend you to disassembly the scroll wheel and clean the little gaps on the side of the wheel. I had this problem and it's solved now.

A cheap solder kit lets you replace these switches easy. One of the best mice to mod without dealing with micro switch crap. The stock switches have a known issue to double click after a few months.

1:23 Anyone know the make and model of switches I should buy to replace the middle mouse button switch (the one that gets pressed when pressing down on the scroll wheel) as well as the switches for buttons G8 and G9? I'm planning on getting some Omron D2F-01F switches to replace the stock left and right mouse button switches, but I'm having similar issues with the middle, G8, and G9 buttons as well. Thanks.

Hey, nice video. I followed your guide to fix an issue with the Right Mouse Button, and that problem seems to be solved, but now I have another one. Having put the mouse back together I find that the scroll wheel is very unresponsive. For every 'tick' I scroll there seems to be a 1/6 chance the mouse actually does anything. Sometimes 12 ticks at a time and nothing happens. To compensate for this (somewhat) I turned up my scroll speed in windows settings, which kinda helps but now it just stops scrolling for a second and then scrolls a bunch at once, or some other spasmatic combination of actions. Any ideas what might be causing the issue or how I could fix it? Tyvm. Edit: It might just be stuff blocking the sensor. I reopened the mouse and there seem to be a fair few tiny hairs around the area where the scroll wheel/sensor are. I removed them to the best of my ability but some I wasn't able to get rid of. It seems to work a bit better, but the issue still generally persists. Maybe I'll just take some compressed air to it, any other ideas would be nice.

I spent a lot of time on fiddling with scroll wheel, and I don't think it's replaceable. I believe the axis has plastic bearing hot pressed in place. I had issues with mine too (working very erratically or none at all), but it was piece of gunk and I believe eyelashes which blocked the sensor AND spokes. I very thoroughly cleaned the whole inside of the whell. Q-tips didn't work here, I finally used squished piece of paper towel soaked in IPA, which I held in tweezers. And lots, and lots of compressed air, to blow out dirt and alcohol.

Missing the most important part which is the wheel. It's a grease catching machine. I could barely move mine unless it got warm from scrolling. Don't be afraid to take it out. The spring mechanism is hinged tight so just wiggle the wheel a little bit and it comes out. Clean it thoroughly and your wheel will be good as new.

This has happened to all my 300's. In my opinion it is some kind of design issue, they just don't hold up over time. I have three now... going to have to open one up and put new switches in.

Hi, this really worked for me. I had the issue of the scroll wheel doesn't working properly, it kinda make bumps in the motion but after cleaning it throughly it now scrolls like when it was new, it has 6 years now btw. The other issue I have and couldn't solve is that the scroll click doesn't work. I tried pressing it directly from the board without the black cover and it didn't work either, maybe some of you can help me with that. PD: I had to take the scroll wheel off to clean it properly until the little gaps were clear.

glad you renewed your mouse.. scroll click has a habit of working whenever it wants to on my mouse as well so idk how to fix it. maybe you can try to brush the switch on the motherboard from the sides..

If washing doesn't fix the scroll wheel, blow compressed air through the tiny holes on the wheel. They're so tiny, look like texture. The oil they use on the wheel there slowly drops in the holes, filling them, which causes no light to be able to get across for the sensor to work. Blow the bugger out of its misery!

you disassembled it wrong, to remove the top cover you have to disassemble the bottom part first. otherwise, you can break the cover latches.
