Right on- been waiting for this one (well, any of your videos, really). Appreciate the two-technique approach, as well- I love my airbrush but sometimes it just doesn't seem worth it due to all the cleaning, and that drybrushing comes out great, as far as I'm concerned. Hmm, I wonder--could this be tweaked to produce an effect similar to the classic H.R. Giger Alien color scheme in the paintings (like the cover for "Giger's Alien")? I'm keen to try painting Cryx models in a scheme akin to that, what do you think?

They're actually both primed grey, it just doesn't look too different from the bare plastic. It isn't strictly necessary to prime plastic models, but it helps the paint stick, so little reason not to.

Why a synthetic brush?

The solvents needed for oil paints are harsh on natural hair. Since the brush is only being used to deposit wash, there's no reason to use anything better than the cheapest, most disposable synthetic available.
