I have been a Grinch this Christmas. I'm sick and my cat died this past fall. We did a clay paw print, and I put little green and lavender hearts on it. When I saw this cookie with the white powdered sugar and little red heart, it reminded me of her paw print.

@@PreppyKitchen You could also use spinach powder. It doesn't add much by way of flavor, and is easily overpowered with the vanilla, or perhaps a little almond if the vanilla isn't strong enough (it SHOULD be though). And if the kids are eating them, it never hurts to slip a little extra veggies in on them.😉

Made these last night just in time for the holiday festivities! They are so easy and delicious. I recommend not chilling the dough - even between batches. The cookies I chilled didn't spread but that also meant they didn't crack like the photo and just weren't as cute. I also think having room temp eggs would make the green gel coloring incorporate better. Have fun making these everyone 💚 *You also need half the amount of powdered sugar/corn starch mix at the end to toss the cookies in. I ended up having way more then I needed for one batch. Happy baking!

I didn’t chill but it still didn’t crack, just spread out😢, wonder what happened

In stead of using matcha maybe try pandan extract! It does have a distinct flavor, but it is a mild flavor and it’s naturally green so it will dye your cookies a naturally green color. I would say give it a try. ☺️ 1:44 Edit: The flavor to me is like a nutty vanilla taste once baked, but it is definitely a hard to describe flavor.

Just wanted to say…I’ve just completed the fourth (and last) jar of your Lemon Curd. When I watched you make it and you said “It’s sunshine in a jar”..that’s how I presented to our friends because we are in VERY cold Utah with snow on the ground and more predicted this week. Truly delicious, not difficult to make and I get to lick the spoon❣️. Thank you and Merry Christmas 🎄❄️🍋.

Side story- my family and I were at Target over the weekend and my 4yo son saw your book and shouted, "Mom! Prepster has a book!" I then shouted across the store to my husband and daughter, "OMG!!!! This will definitely appeal to kids of all ages, and I can see so many variations on this. For example, substitute mint extract and red M&Ms for the vanilla and cinnamon hearts, or make them next Halloween using licorice candies to make Frankenstein cookies.

Not that anyone will read this or care if they do, but I am going to post it anyway. You can make green cookies by substituting avocado flesh for whatever fat you're using. The final product won't taste like avocado (unless perhaps you use an overly ripe avocado, probably want to go with less ripe fruits and yes avocados are fruits for this purpose), but it will be a light shade of green provided the other ingredients are not strongly colored.

I love your recipes but I do have a few suggestions as I am on my 3rd batch today for my grandsons Grinch party at preschool tomorrow. First if you have it use gel food coloring and go a little darker as cookies will bake lighter . Also, use clear imitation vanilla if you have it . I found that real vanilla adds a muddy appearance to the color . ( I was going for neon green as this was for 3 year olds after all! ) Also the cornstarch and powder sugar cookie toss did not crack well. I found that rolling in granulated sugar then just powder plain powder sugar provided a better crack. I did fridge the first tray of cookies for 5 minutes but found this really not necessary. I do not want anyone to take this advice as criticism as I admire John and find his channel and recipies are great. Just adding what I found worked best for me.
