Just built the farm. Thought that I had put the tubes in wrong but actually the guardians were just glitching out of the spawn part of the tube at the top. Fixed it by putting more glass in the corners around the top 2 blocks of each tube and it works perfectly. Great farm and video!

Honestly I really like this guardian farm as it is simple to make and doesn't require Nether Portals and Redstone, but it still gets you the guardians. I also quite like it as it is quite easy to expand upon as you go along as you don't have to add all 25 tubes in one go. Plus I drained an ocean monument, so this will be nice to stick in there

As someone who has emptied an Ocean Monument of Water and Blocks, I can appreciate the amount of work that takes. I turned mine into a Poseidon Temple as part of the decoration of my Guardian Farm, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with yours.

Farm works very well on Bedrock 1.17.41 (Windows 10). But a couple comments: * The top of the grid pic @ 4:06 actually points East. North is on the left. * The grid pic walkway orientation didn't match what I built per the verbal directions. It ended up being ok, the spawn points were in the same spot. * For reference, the corner spawn points should be the third block in (X and Z axis - from edge 2 over, 2 over) from the monument's corner below. * The glass tubes should go down to Y=26, which is referenced later in the video but the first part mentions Y=28 @ 11:30. 28 is not deep enough to kill the guardians. * Definitely perform the guardian spawn test first. With the spawn columns blocked down to the temple, and the temple itself 100% sealed, you should not see guardians outside the temple after killing off / despawning those remaining. With the above addressed, the farm works almost TOO well. A serious storage/sorting system is a must, as it will struggle to keep up. But great farm.

This farm works as of 1.18.30 (4/22/22) bedrock as well as on a regular server (when I tested in creative) and a realms server. I had to do what the comments did and put three extra blocks in each corner around where the button and water is. Still have four tubes to build as well as the storage system, but so far so good. Can confirm working 1.19.2 Aug 13. Built it sightly modified so that they fall through lava before falling into a cobweb and burning to death. The drops fall into a water stream and collect in a central storage. Probably not getting optimal rates since they die slightly slower than if you just kill them with fall damage, but you save a ton of iron on hoppers. Quick test showed I'm getting roughly 4,000 drops an hour, which is pretty mental. If you use fall damage I'd estimate closer to 5,000-6,000 drops an hour, but that's gonna be overkill for most people lol.

This is awesome. I think if you change the way the guardians are killed, you can just do ice + water streams to move the items, instead of hopper lines. Might even be cool to make a floor design that shows the items moving, like it does near your item storage.

I did this exact thing too months ago. I thought i was nuts for doing it when the one tube trident killer was so efficient. I used minecarts to deposit everything into multiple hoppers to help with item moving. Im planning on turning the giant kill chamber into a metro station soon.

Please don’t build this unless you have some crazy need for A TON of prismarine. Just a little under an hour and you get a full double chest of items plus some. I built all 25 chutes and wow, I don’t even know what to do with all of the items. If you need just a bit of prismarine here and there, 9 pillars is more then plenty. Amazing build! -) Oh yeh, built this on 1.18.31 bedrock realms, works flawlessly

On a simulation distance of 4, there is a chance that many mobs will despawn before they hit the bottom of the shaft. It seems a little tricky to find the right AFK spot in order to allow for spawning and minimize despawning. Just something to think about before you build. Prowl's spot inside the base wasn't random. Don't AFK in the sky.

What we've found on our guardian farm where we use trident killers and water streams/elevators to push the items up, rather than down, you can afk in the center of the temple above, and have 21/25 of the spawn spots active. You cannot hit the 4 corners on sim distance 4.

Yes, This is the problem of Prowl's Guardian Farm design. It is about AFK Spot on Simulation Distance of 4. We can't use all spawn spots if AFK on ocean level and despawning problem if we AFK on the sky.

Did 9 tubes and modified collection system to be hoppers from under each tube leading to 1 soul sand elevator that pops everything into a huge storage silo on the surface. Works a charm. Might do sorting system soon

This DOES work on Minecraft Bedrock 1.18.2 (the current latest version). If you are having problems make sure that when you are blocking the spawns that you block the spawns all the way down to the ocean floor including the spawn locations inside of the ocean monument (you don't have to drain the whole thing unless you want to). Hope this helps!

This is so great for early game: pretty lights and the pretty green blocks. So simple. It's definitely going to be how I start my next guardian farm in my next new world. For blocking the spawn spots, I use sand because I can just stand at the top and place until it stacks up-gravel works too. Super easy and fast. You'll only need to go into the water to break blocks so the column goes all the way to the ocean floor, and you can just skip that step-handling it when you build the drop chutes. My understanding was that structure spawns *always* use the cave cap + 1-even when they aren't under a solid block. Since you're AFKing below instead of above, you'll still want to light up the caves so those don't affect your rates. But drowned spawning shouldn't slow down guardian spawning. Maybe I'm wrong or maybe it's changed recently or will change in 1.18? IMO looting III and XP collection is worth the trident killer upgrade... This is the fastest XP farm in my personal survival worlds. If you do ever upgrade to use trident killers, most importantly: do *not* transport the guardians: build the trident killers directly around their spawn spots. A 1×1×2 or 1×1×3 kill chamber with a single water source on the spawn spot is sufficient. That creates a flow for item and XP delivery. Use a trapdoor to keep the guardians in and let XP and items flow into your water streams. If XP orbs get stuck, use a longer chamber-but 1×1×2 still gets most of it. If you aren't collecting XP you'll want to have an off switch (or burn it in a campfire or lava) so it doesn't lag your world. Use one of the trident killer designs that pokes them in the head through the corners of the glass using pistons or trapdoors. Simpler and faster to build and works much *much* better for guardians than the common whirlpool designs, which can cause them to bounce around and glitch out of the kill chamber. Cheaper too because you won't need observers (quartz). A simple torch and repeater clock circuit with trapdoors or pistons works fine. 5) With a good clock and a few Impaling V tridents in each trident killer, you should be able to kill every single guardian within 2-12 game ticks of spawning. Nether based farms might be a little faster (1gt?), but that's overkill. IMO there's no need for most players to deal with the hassle of two dimensional farming. This approach uses a lot of tridents:25 to 100! ! So if you don't have a drowned farm yet, you can just use this drop-kill design on all of the spawn spots and upgrade one spot at a time to use a trident killer. And... I heard like XP farms so I put an XP farm in your XP farm. Always cook those raw cod! 😁

Fyi sorry if this sounds critical. I really love this design. Easy early game prismarine and sea lanterns are a big deal! I predict all of my future guardian farms will be built this way, at least to start. As you pointed out elsewhere, fast XP can be gotten from other places, and looting III is probably overkill since this already produces more than most people need.

In building the farm, blocking the spawns worked perfectly well and I had everything placed correctly, but after building the tubes and finishing out the build I noticed that Guardians are spawning in bunches at a few tubes instead of inside them individually. Not sure of a way to fix it, bit of a bummer.

I imagine you could upgrade this farm by adding dispensers for the water spawning spaces so you can turn the farm on and off. Could also set up a switch to basically add water to the bottom where the hoppers are and redstone doors to allow the guardians to travel through some tunnels into a kill chamber. Basically you could toggle it from spawning/not spawning, and from being an afk drop farm to being an afk xp/drop farm with a trident killer or somethin. So as it is, its awesome. But if someone wants to spend a lot of extra time, you could make it a toggled design.

I'm playing in 1.19 and don't know if it works still. I'm seeing other people saying it works in 1.18 but I don't see anyone who's tried it recently. I just built all of the pillars and there are still guardians everywhere so I don't know if I did something wrong or if it doesn't work anymore Edit: never mind, just switch your game to peaceful then back to your difficulty and they'll all despawn. For some reason flying away and even going through the nether to another part of your world didn't despawn them.

A single pointed dripstone (the tiny one) kills the guardians at lower vertical distances AND allows items to pass through. Then you can make ice + water streams for the items. Thanks for this suggestion.

@@boxingkanga8352 Did a bit of testing, and there is some loss with the single dripstone. Sometimes the drops land on top of it and don't get swept by the current. Instead, use a two-tall dripstone that is waterlogged. Ice is on the level of the bottom dripstone. Drops don't get stuck. Cheers.

In 1.18 we do still get water-logged and not water-logged caves. The ones I have under my monument are massive. Edit: I'm decorating my tubes to look like tridents. They look good designed at a 45 angle

I love the simplicity of this farm. However, as far as speed and amount of items (for overworld based farm), a trident killer at each spawn spot is more efficient. But it’s also way more expensive, so there’s a trade off.

Agreed. Now that I've seen prowl's drop-kill approach, I'll probably start with that in any new world, and then upgrade one spawn spot at a time to use trident killers. I built my first drowned farm just so I could finish all of the spawn spots in my first guardian farm!

@@Prowl8413 if you use a simple tk design, there's very little lag. You can get by with a single piston, a torch and a repeater and still kill most guardians in 22 game ticks. I use two pistons per spot and it's fine on realms or my old android phone or Nintendo switch or ps3. The lag comes from not collecting (or burning) the XP orbs! That will get *very* laggy.

In 1 overnight AFK drop killing you're likely to get around 25 double chests of shards. So it's not really needed for the drops. Furnace xp or even gold farm is much quicker and easier xp so don't really need the XP either.

Love the Farm. But how did you actually find the Treasure Chest within a few block??? Mine are always far down or missing in action. Those Trader Llamas never despawn (they have persistence by design, in the Json files) so killing them quick is good or else you will soon have the 200 mobs Bedrock allows all be Trader Llamas.

Of course he will also show up in places that he has no business being, like on top of a Sky Block Mob Farm that has been Slabbed.

I had a single tube trident killer for my guardian farm up in the sky but I liked the idea of having everything come into the monument and sorting it all there and creating a new interior...drained the whole thing outside and in set up one tube, all others blocked other than my current tube of them going to the sky, and nothings coming out of the spawn tube I have going into the monument. Would this just be from other mob spawns in caves and such around me or am I not doing something right? Thanks

I once drained the inside of an ocean monument and found out that mobs can spawn inside it in BE. In JE nothing will spawn inside, so you don't even need to light it up if you drain the water.

I built this farm in 1.18, drained the interior of the monument and it worked incredibly fast. I then drained the exterior of the monument and noticed that the spawn rates dropped significantly. Are there any changes I need to make other than spawn proofing the entire area with slabs? I think slimes are taking up the mob cap maybe but any information would be helpful..

yes the rates have increased, i do not have any actual numbers though. my monument is not slabbed, but it is lit up entirely. slabbing it wouldnt hurt. i slabbed the entire area i drained. any spawnable block within a 128 block radius of the afk spot. i had to use slabs because mine was also a slime chunk and the slimes took up the mob cap

Didn't realize there's a different placement 10/11 blocks at first but, works great now. Only did half and I get wayyyyyy more than I need I do have one single spot the guardians are spawning outside of this though, the north 10 block pillar in the center. Makes getting in and out tricky and I didn't want the full tube there ruining the entryway.. Guess I might have to.

@@kishaangopalakrishnan9589 yes. I just build it. I did all the tunes except the center I think north ones (where the "walkway" is and i only hollowed half the tubrs and I get wayyyyy more than I need. It's very fast. I do however get spawn from the walkway area for some reason tho

I’m making a giant 200x200 circle down to bedrock in the ocean with an ocean monument in the center. I’ve already drained all the water from the ocean, I could still make this farm with no problems right? The only water that’s relevant is in the tubes for the guardians to spawn in?

I want to make this farm but my base area is all ice and all 3 ocean monuments is under ice does it still work? Or will it be very bad because of mob spawn on ice

Using two monuments wouldn't up the spawn rate. He covered the top block of the spawning spaces to turn the Guardians into cave spawns, meaning that he can have 8 guardians in the cave mob cap which is not taken up by drowned, because they are included in the overworld mob cap. If you want to up the spawn rate, your afk spot should be above your farm, the distance depends on your simulation distance (I think...). Personally I scaffolded up 30 blocks and then kept checking and climbing further until I was seeing spawns from all the spawn points.

Tried to build this farm this week in 1.18.20 with a few modifications, everything I tried resulted in flying (literally flying in mid-air) guardians, so I went back to following your instructions to the letter, and still having the same problem. I know this has been a bug that has been around since 2018, (MCPE-33641) but how did you overcome it?

I thought guardians were structure spawns neither surface or cave spawns. But if it’s a bit of both then should you make half of spots surface spawns

I like this farm. Building a proper Guardian farm is so labor intensive that it never gets done or it is pretty late game. This design seems like a good in between since I can see how this can be upgraded later to replace the chutes with trident killers and water streams for xp and items. Yeah, the rates might decrease but should be made up with Looting 3.

To prevent guardians from despawning while falling through the tubes, the afk spot must not be in sky but inside the monument (mainly at the center). On stimulation distance 4, you would not be able able to cover all locations (maybe just the 9 locations around the center one).

You could always use water to move it along if you like (hopper to dropper, drop into water streams and bubble columns).

@@Prowl8413 Don't know if it still works as I haven't tried it in 1.17 but you used to be able to water log chests. Mobs would still take damage when falling on them and items would move off of them. Would make it so you could just water stream everything into the sorters and minimize hopper lag. Just a thought Incase someone wanted to make their base inside the temple.

if u use the trapdoor trident killers you will be fine, they don´t cause as much lag.. or u transport the guardians to one central area via minecarts(activator rails to get them out of carts)

Not if you're just killing them using fall damage. If you want to kill them with a trident killer, or multiple trident killers then it would take more time and keep the mob cap filled longer reducing the rates for the farm. There are other farms that will give you the XP but they are totally different from this.

No, he will not. He will only copy a farm with the simplest design. This design is not as simple as his because of the glass tubes and the AFK Spot.
