Boy, this was hard! I'm 73 years old and have been playing RS for several years now. It's my favorite retirement activity. Anyway, this was the toughest boss I have had so far but I did defeat him using the following strategy. Remember, I am VERY slow at clicking compared to 20-year-olds that make KZbin videos, so I needed a different strategy. 1) Stay south of the barrier as much as possible. With practice, you can defeat the gate without needing to mine north. 2) Keep the barrier charged. 3) Listen for the word "children" and kill any that appear ASAP as they will recharge the gate. 4) Do your best to try to avoid getting hit by gate attacks. 5) Take as much high-level food as you can. Use a beast of burden like a spirit pack pig, pack yak or pack mammoth. The higher level the better! Try to leave 15 inventory slots for cleansed shards. it's a balancing act. 6) Mine two or three rocks south of the boarder to get the cleansed shards. When inventory is full hit the Special Action button and try to jump all four pillars then click on the gate to cleanse it. in practice, I can only do that about half the time for a 5% bonus. If I miss, I have to click on the gate once for each cleansed shard in my inventory. Good luck don't get discouraged. If I can do it, you can!

Couple extra tips for the people doing something closer to the first kill, if your only taking 2 begone attacks, you only need to repair the barrier to 60% (the begone attack takes 30% from the barrier shield). Also every time the big hits comes after the special action phase, it will completely destroy the barrier (no matter what percentage it's at)

Psa: if u throw on pillars and dont manage a one cycle kill, just mine a few more (1 per 2.5k hp remaining) and surge north andvthrow at the boss without using the extra action button

Stay behind the barrier and don’t worry about moving so much

Stay south of the barrier.. it’s a 4 minute kill and significantly more afk

How'd you throw all your rocks all at once including familiars? Keybinding?

How is your camera not moving on the pillars? I have camera shake off and it still causes me to misclick sometimes.

Using the freedom camera causes the camera to lag behind you and not have as many jarring motions. If you use Freedom Classic, it'll stick to your character much more closely which makes accurate clicks pretty impossible.
