Beginner-friendly project to make in an afternoon - a cute and useful wrap-around case for your needles and pins. It's a great way to use your slow-stitched pieces or any fabric scraps you may have - I used a beautiful piece of patchwork from a Bazaar scrap bundle.

This was the epitome of slow stitching pleasure. You spent a nice couple of hours relaxing and stitching onto lovely fabrics and came out with a useful needle case at the end of it. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you LInda, I'm glad it came across that way, because that's exactly how it felt at this end too - which I really needed after all the frantic searching! :)

You almost made a hussif or housewife (sewing kit) from 1700s. They were made using scraps of fabric, some were beautifully embroidered. They would have a pocket also made from a scrap of fabric. Rolled and tied with a scrap of something, as you did with yours. This was good to watch - my thread snapped a couple of times too. Now use either top stitch thread or button thread. Many thanks.

Annie, I was smiling about you losing the yo-yo maker. I spent ages yesterday searching high & low for a stencil I'd used only minutes before. Looked on the floor, in the sink, under the sofa, in the bin! Everywhere I could've left it or dropped it. Was driving me nuts. Eventually discovered it stuck firmly to a gell print, hidden in plain sight. Doh!!! The needlecase is a lovely 'make', and ideal for those Indian patchwork pieces from Bazaar. I'll dig mine out and have a go ... if I can find them, that is. Val x

Oh it's so frustrating isn't it Val, I was so hacked off I was close to tears, ridiculous I know. They turned up this morning, also hiding in plain sight, very close to where first looked. Of course. omg your stencil stuck to a gelli print, that's hilarious, I'm sure it wasn't at the time though. Glad you like the needlecase, I always love those embroidered patchwork pieces - now go and see if you can find yours, go on, I dare you ... they're probably hiding out by camoflaging themselves in a pile of fabric, or they'll have walked themselves under a cupboard .... voice of experience here! :)

Such a lovely needle wrap and a fun watch.... I did feel for you when the thread snapped and it shows some threads can be unpredictable. But you won out in the end and I loved the addition of the vintage button. I still have quite a lot of bazaar scraps bundled up in my stash somewhere and I really must get them back out and play!

I love that needle book, stains and all😀 I can so empathise with you on the frustration felt and time wasted on your search for the Suffolk puff maker. I am forever losing stuff in my Tardis of a sewing room. Some stuff I am yet to find after years!!! Lovely video Annie thank you💕

I feel your pain over the yo yo makers. One of my favorite memories from my youth is when my mother commanded my sister to clean up her room. My sister's response was, "But Mom, if I clean it up I won't be able to find anything!" 😁 Very pretty button in your puff. Maybe you could use one of the beads from the bracelet on the end of your ribbon tie. You've made a beautiful needlebook out of scraps. ❤

Well would you believe it, Sue, they turned up today when I opened the curtains and there they were in a pot on the windowsill - in my defence, that pot is usually on the table, which was the first place I looked!! Ah well, they will be a nice little treat for someone during a future livestream I guess, so it's all good!

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Love everything about it. I'm so glad you used the yo-yo as a pin cushion (love the decorative stitching around it and the gorgeous button💕)! Would never have though to do so - so clever! Such a delightful video. Oh, BTW I'm always putting things in a safe place and then not remembering where🤪. Drives me nuts! But I do find them when I'm least expecting it. Those yo-yo gadgets are great! Thank you! Have a fabulous day💕🥰.

Happy to enable you Paula - those Suffolk puff makers are fab, but can be SO pricey, sounds like you found a similar bargain to the ones I got - they were four for £12, not Clover, but work just as well. You'll be addicted to making them now, it's so easy! Hope you don't wait to long for your postie to bring them. Glad you like the needle book, thanks for watching and hope you're feeling better now xo

@@artyfartyannie yes I am doing better, had four days with no sickness! Yep think I am on the mend at long last. Been a very long (six weeks on and off and hospital visit am now addicted to hospital soup not such a bad thing) journey, todays aim is to walk around the block with Cleo poor wee girl hasn’t been for a walk in a while with me, thank goodness for friends she has been out and about though her favourite is when Marley (friends dog) pops around as she knows a beach run is on the cards. Shouldn’t complain as I’ve had great care, hubby bless has stepped up to the mark. Bonus lost loads of weight but know need to put some on, something I thought I would never say. Fingers crossed for blue sky and hope the weather gets into the two digits range. I have plans to slow stitch today, house is tidy, ah life is good.

If you check out my Bazaar playlist, you'll find some of the projects I've made using silks and other fabrics from BAzaar packs, hopefully you'll see something which inspires you there. I plan to start my millefiori slow-stitching project next week, which will use a lot of silk scraps, so watch out for that too. Thanks for watching :)

does anyone this side of the pond States or Canada know of a company that does scrap packs like this. I think the mailing might be too much from the UK
@artyfartyannie
@artyfartyannie 20 күн бұрын
Hi Bunzerboy, yes sadly it will cost a bit to post overseas - I know a few people have had packs delivered to US, Canada, NZ and Oz and been very happy with what they got, but obviously it would make more sense to be able to buy locally if you can. I know Bazaar will be happy to do a quote for you if you email them, might be worth asking them to quote for one pack versus several, to see if it's more viable if you buy a few packs?? It's also worth doing an internet search for manufacturing companies in your country that sell off their scraps and fabric waste - a lot more companies are doing this now, sometimes just charging for the shipping costs. It won't be the lovely Indian pieces, but you might be surprised what you can find. Also thrift stores are worth hunting through, often you can harvest nice pieces from old cushions, bedding, coats etc. Please do let me know if you find anywere in your area and I'll be happy to share it in my videos as well as our Discord and FB group, as I know we have lots of members who would be interested. Good luck and happy hunting :)

@artyfartyannie 20 күн бұрын
Sorry, I don't know if I actually gave dimensions, because I was just using up a piece I had and the size wasn't crucial really. The size of my finished needlewrap is about 5" x 10" or 12cm x 26cm. Hope that helps :)
