Thank you for this tutorial! It looks so pretty on you 💖! I cut my hair too short and I'm trying to find different ways to wear a head scarf until it grows out. This one has to be my favorite.. then the one where it's in a low bun.

How do you keep it on? My hair is thin and soft and it slides off my head. Can i make one that's not a silkie?
@TravelingwithJessica2 ай бұрын
Doing a double-knot helps! If not, try adding a bobby pin or snap clip to the sides. You can also try using a head scarf that's not satin or silk, if you'd like.

First, you are so friggin' cute! Now, my issue: I recently, and stupidly, gave away all my large beautiful vintage square scarves, thinking I'll never wear them again, because they were too dressy. I only kept the more modern long rectangle casual ones. So, is there any way to make one of those types of scarves into a head scarf without it looking like a Muslim man's turban? Thank you.
@TravelingwithJessica5 ай бұрын
Thank you for the kind words! 😊 There are definitely ways to style those long rectangle scarves into chic head scarves. Here’s a simple method you can try! Fold your rectangle scarf in half lengthwise to create a thinner band. Place the center of the scarf at the nape of your neck and bring the ends up to the top of your head. Cross them over each other, and then bring the ends back down to the nape of your neck, tying them into a knot or bow. You can tuck in any loose ends or let them hang for a more casual look. You can also fold the scarf into a narrow band. Place it on your forehead, bring the ends around the back of your head, and tie them into a knot. This style is great for keeping hair out of your face, too! Let me know if you want to see a tutorial for this!
@marciasagadore21585 ай бұрын
@@TravelingwithJessica Thank you. That would be great, except I can't see myself wearing a tail or bow in back. Let me know if you ever do, so I won't miss it. It wouldn't be as cute as what you did, though! I kept thinking of old-time Hollywood, Carmen Miranda, and every other cute star of the time that had to cover up their pin-curls. I'm still angry about the timing and stupidity of my giving away all my beautiful vintage scarves. I had them for decades, never thought I'd wear them again, and wanted to start purging. Age, clothing style, lifestyle, and already having given away all my tailored and dress clothes -- and then I saw your video! Frig.

What material do you choose for a head scarf
@TravelingwithJessica3 ай бұрын
I use a satin scarf most of the time, but sometimes I’ll switch to silk. The main difference is the material: silk is a natural fiber, breathable, and lightweight, helping to reduce frizz and breakage. It’s pricier but great year-round. Satin, typically synthetic, offers similar hair benefits, though it’s warmer on the scalp and more affordable. Both work well for protecting curls overnight. :
