This is more like mixed media sculpture. Your ability to imagine solutions to creating the world in miniature is something else. I bet generating scenes in boxes with peepholes would sell as unique art pieces. Your videos are expertly made and edited. Thanks!

Love the Replicated Idaho State Police Car ... Looks nice. ( As A Youth Driver of the Era just interesting note.... BTW not nit picking on your cool Diorama n super nice model Railroad Video and skills n tips. Anyway Circa 75-78 ISP. Used the 75 Dodge Monocos they were Larger n Heavier n Handle The Higher Speeds Sometime needed in field duty better than the later body smaller n lighter 76-78 Fury/Monocos used in many City Areas by then. ISP Was Stitching over to Chevy Caprices for Patrol due to being heavier car n the 454 being continued available. Where as by 80 Chrysers 440 interceptors were no longer Available I'm curious are you also a Idaho Resident ??? Again only was making note of interest I drove 2 -69 Roadrunneres from Valley County to Boise n Back n to Payette on her ghways 55 & 95 at 75-115 MPH. Ocassionall saw Stare Troopers running opposite Direction in the Black w White diagonal stripes w the Gold Idaho on door same as you model shows

As usual Luke- very informative. Thanks for posting. I like the use of basket liner- I have obtained some rubberized horsehair but the liner may be better for scruffy bushes and other vegetation along embankments- I will have to give it a go. I can actually get these at Lowes, here in the US. I'll report back in our next layout update! Just curious- do you have a layout? Would love to see it if you do- must be spectacular!
@BoulderCreekRailroad
@BoulderCreekRailroad 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rob, I am in the process of building a layout, unfortunately I don't own my house, I'm just renting and building a proper layout is a little difficult for me because I know I'll probably be moving soon! However I am building a small modular layout that I know I can easily pack up and move around with. I watched you latest update, you layout looks absolutely fantastic! I actually thought of you when I was making this video because I know you plan to do a row of houses on the hill above the track and I thought a hedge might look good there? Did you have any luck with getting the road texture you wanted using the sponge technique? Looking forward to you progress :) Cheers Luke
@robbennett1965
@robbennett1965 8 жыл бұрын
I did paint the road per your technique. May not have had the ideal sponge. It looks okay, and once I weather and stripe it it should be good to go. BTW- I picked up some "Coco" liner at Lowes- will be trying it very soon! Thanks again for the continuing great tips Luke!
@BoulderCreekRailroad
@BoulderCreekRailroad 8 жыл бұрын
Nice, I found I got quite different results depending on the sponge! I tried it with a makeup sponge and it was terrible (not enough definition), I found more open and airy sponges worked a little better. Good luck with the hedges, the coconut fiber is pretty easy stuff to work with, and it's quite cheap so if you bugger it up it's no big loss, you can just try again :)

As good as real one. this is so awesome idea to utilize coco fibre. the thing I discussed u before about the substitute materials for those leaves u paste on the fibre. actually I have idea of dying the wood dust, sawdust in different shades of green color so will this work? what's ur opinion 😄

These turned out pretty nice. What is your thoughts about using parsley or some other seasonings for leafs?
@BoulderCreekRailroad
@BoulderCreekRailroad 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks :) I guess you could use parsley as a substitute, the only thing would be the parsley would be very brittle once completely dry. You'd probably need to seal the hedge with a spraying of scenic glue or dull coat to prevent the parsley from breaking away? Although I really don't know? It might turn out great or it might not be so good? Time for an experiment :) Hope that helps... Cheers Luke
