Great, simple tutorial. No waffle. I've been sewing for years but only recently bought an overlocker and I confess, I was a bit scared of it but the tuition was easy to understand and I'm looking forward to making some jersey garments. Thank you.

Do you adjust the stitch ( closeness) deferential feed because you cannot make the stitch wide or smaller. Hope you understand what I mean. Thank you for a great explanation, (have asked the dealers but they could not show me. Told check your book.)
@lisao304110 ай бұрын
Also, so as to not have to be super careful, turn the knife off entirely. You can sew on the edge of the double fold and just pull open the stitching when you unfold. This also affords you the opportunity to have the ladder stitching on the underside/wrong side of the garment. I actually prefer to see the other side facing out, not the ladder stitch.

Great video. But I don't understand which needle should be threaded on the top (the one with 0 tension?) and it's not clear which needle to remove (as it looks like the opposite of what you say). Can you help? Thanks
@IconicPatterns5 жыл бұрын
Ah, all these years and finally someone noticed :))) I threaded the right needle from the left spool. The left needle is removed, right needle set to zero and the loopers are set as usual.

Thank you realy, great idea, but it's a slow process for me.. I am searching a quicker way suits my garment production line.. Please anyone knows how it could be done please give me help
@blissstreeks40358 жыл бұрын
why do you need to set the left knoe to zero? Is this on all machines? Is that what causes the ladder effect?
@TheLadybughug4 жыл бұрын
So how would you lock the stitches? Thank you for this. Can you also please tell me which thread is seen on the good side of the fabric? And do j need a special foot?
@IconicPatterns4 жыл бұрын
Can't tell you right now which thread is visible on the outside, it has been awhile! Usually you lock the stitches by hand sewing or feeding them into your overlocking seam. You don't need a special foot to do this.

Upper and lower looper set as usual. Usual for what?
@IconicPatterns4 жыл бұрын
Usual for an optimal seam quality - no loops or pulling.
@RubiRahima9 жыл бұрын
would this work on a curved hem?

+RubiRahima I haven't tried it, but I can't see why not, if you are very familiar with your overlocker.

This just popped up in my KZbin feed. I am glad I watched it. You sound like you're from Australia but you have another accent Blended in with the Australian accent am I correct?
@nataliedubious52416 жыл бұрын
dcwatashi south African by my best guess, possibly living in new Zealand because there's no Aussie inflections in her accent but there is a few NZ sounding words
@tregetletterwood19198 жыл бұрын
But I don't want that stich on the right side of my fabric either. I want a non-visible hem. How does that work?
@IconicPatterns8 жыл бұрын
+Treget Letterwood It won't work. An overlocker is not a machine for your task.
@sensa6198 жыл бұрын
you could do a blind hem stitch with your serger. search on KZbin:)

Im very new to sewing.. been doing it for 3 days now and only just camr across overlocking. Is this a special overlock machine or does it come with a standard sewing machine? How much money can one (the cheapest) set you back?
@lenamerrin9 жыл бұрын
RelaxedAndLovingIt it is a special machine, called overlocker. I am not sure how much they are where you live, the prices vary a lot between countries and brands. If you are very new to sewing, I'd advise you to wait until you are completely comfortable with your sewing machine's functions. The overlocker has 4 threads and at first can be very confusing.

Can someone PLEASE help me. If I'm correct she said to set the left needle to zero and then in the next sentence she says to take the right needle out and leave the left needle in. Is that right? Maybe I just don't get it. Please set me straight. Thanks!
@viktorbuzek96497 жыл бұрын
Pat Smith Hi, the tension of the left needle is set on zero, and it is not removed .Right needle is removed.
@vickimorris36756 жыл бұрын
She DID say left tension to zero and take right needle out which is NOT what the video shows. Thank you for pointing that out. She obviously removed the left needle!
