I'd like to recommend using waste yarn to count the rows. Just put a lil piece of yarn every 10-20 rows. Unless you have supreme confidence in your counter. I ended up with all of my panels being different lengths- one was 25 rows too long! You can also wait to close the second end of each panel until you sew the panels together, then pull out rows until they are the right length. I'm personally learning to knit better so that I can make up the short panels to match the correct sized ones without having to put a panel back onto the machine and risk messing it up.

I’ve never understood why ppl only use tubes to make blankets why not use the panel setting? You wouldn’t knit or crochet a double layered blanket typically so why when using the round knitting machine?
@WMcrafts139
@WMcrafts139 10 ай бұрын
Well, when you knit a panel the edges typically curl and you don’t get pretty edges. Also, the tube setting just creates a warmer and nicer looking blanket.
@pjaypender1009
@pjaypender1009 9 ай бұрын
You don't typically knit a blanket. A single thickness of something that big would stretch out of shape and be impossible to block. It wouldn't be attractive at all. These hold their shape, are warm and look pretty.

People knit single layer blankets all the time. Stockinette may curl at the edges, but there are plenty of stitches that have even yarn distribution that you do around the border that give you a flat panel with stockinette. These comments are ridiculous.

Hello! There are actually drill attachments you can get that will turn the crank for you, while you hold the button on the drill. I haven't tested it with a row counter yet, but it reduces the arm strain from actually turning the crank.

problem with motors/drill attachments is they can melt the plastic parts if you go too fast. It's really all about perspective. It would take me WEEKS to knit a blanket this size/squishiness; compare that to hours, I'll take it! 😀

Question, I have made afghans following this style but every once in a while when closing the other end the tails aren’t lining up almost like the whole tube has shifted and when I go to bind the panels together the points don’t come out straight like one panel will have the corners laying flat horizontally and another they will be vertical any help would be appreciative
@WMcrafts139

@chrisjamnik6673
@chrisjamnik6673 11 күн бұрын
@@WMcrafts139 I did add more rows instead of 300 I did 386, as the person it was for is going to college and her twin bed is on the longer side, sorry I call them Afghans but it is the exact blanket pattern that is in the tutorial only with more rows and different color pallet. I am going to try to make another panel and see if I can get it to not shift, I'm wondering if it could be a tension issue as the addi express king-size doesn't come with one so you have to use your actual hand to hold the yarn and apply tension, I'll keep everyone updated when I finish the panel

This can happen when your yarn is too thick or if your yarn is not completely in the end of the feeder. Also, if you crank the machine the wrong way suddenly, it will drop a stitch. That is a mistake I see a lot of beginners make. Hope this helps!

That happened to me a few times and there’s no perfect answer I can come up with. However, I recommend stretching you panels first to get a similar size and see if that helps. Also when you’re crocheting them together, you could grab an extra bar or skip a a stitch. I’m a perfectionist and this bothered me but I did my best to hide the ugly stitches.I hope this helps!
