Thanks for the idea! Have thinking for some time now about path way to my cabin that will be having similar edges so this was very helpful. Will set this up next spring! The idea are having this edges each side of the path way, small stones and then tiles above the small stone that can handle the ice.

Like yours, my front lawn was destroyed over this winter by leather jackets. I had good success treating the little fellas this spring using nematodes at 4x the autumn dose (and doing 2 applications, 1 before and one after renovation), when many told me I’d just have to wait until autumn to renovate. The lawn now looks better than ever - so glad I did it! Enjoying your vids, so thanks - nice to have an active UK based lawn care channel (those US boys are always cheating with environmentally harmful chemicals that have been banned in Europe for decades)

Thanks Thomas- thats exactly why i setup because I do enjoy watching their videos but some of the advice wasn't applicable to me and I couldn't get the products. Also found out its alot harder to get those results when you cant wipe out all the things you want to with pre emergent! This last week I've seen a number of LJs in the surface turning black, not sure if its the birds or the treatment but as long as they aren't in the lawn ill take it

Glad I watched this video. I have been deliberating as to using wood or metal edging. Metal is very expensive for the length I would need and seeing your video has confirmed wood is the better option. Thanks for such a detailed "how to".

Controlling amount of water on lawn during the times cranefly adults are laying eggs will reduce them in your lawn. Heavy watered lawns and areas where water collects are more prone for cranefly/leather jackets.

So have you just screwed the right side border in rather than install more posts on the side next to your drive? If I want to fully border garden do I add posts on opposite sides of the square/rectangle ? Rather than all four sides? I’ve cut my posts 3 the height of wood. But struggling to get post low enough in ground. Would I be better off cutting post to 2 times the height instead?

@odgeUK
@odgeUK 3 жыл бұрын
Couldn't really find '4x1' and '4x2' as measurements at the usual DIY places. They tend to use Metrics. Closest I could find at Wickes was Pressure Treated Sawn Timber 22 x 100 for the boards, and Pressure Treated Kiln Dried Timber 45 x 95 for the pegs. They do a proper Gravel board at 22 x 150 but that just feels like I'll have to dig deeper to get them in!
@GardenLawncareGuy
@GardenLawncareGuy 3 жыл бұрын
Yes alot of places are metrics but 22x100 is very close to 4x1 and those few mm don't really matter. The key is treated timber and enough depth to cover the depth you need 👍
@davidvasey1955
@davidvasey1955 3 жыл бұрын
Use 2x2 (50mill x 50mill treated timber or some places will state 47mill (whatever guys). If they dont sell the pegs buy a length of watever size and cut down to bout 400 long. Preferably put a 2 way point on it but no biggie (your choice). The standard pegs are bout 2x2, 4 way pointed, 400 and 600 long. If you buy timber to cut down buy treated rough sawn timber

Hi mate love the content, I am planning to dress and overseed my lawn but I’m worried about the trampoline I have on the grass? Will the seed still germinate if I keep moving it around? Thanks in advance
@GardenLawncareGuy
@GardenLawncareGuy 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Lee, You've got a few issues to think about there. 1 is the area under the trampoline feet wont germinte 2 walking across the area isn't ideal and 3 the are underneath the trampoline wont get much light. If possible I'd tip it on the side off the grass, if not consider seeding your area in sections and when the seed has grown in one part move it to another.
