Good video, picked up loads of good tips. Would be nice if you included a couple of shots of the final project, to show off your hard work 😊

I’m doing this weekend, only question I have is what do you use to fill the voids under the sleepers between the footings? If you could let me know that would be great! Cheers

Thanks for this video. Really helpful. We are putting 1 sleeper in our garden to contain a patch of raised bed on one side. I have a 2 year old that loves climbing over everything. Is it enough to fix our softwood sleeper in with concrete, or should I make it more secure with another type of fixing? Thanks, Sarah

Hey love your video, unfortunately couldn't get my hands on any bitumen. I only have membrane, do you recommend putting it at the bottom of the sleepers? If so would it be on top of the Concrete mix? Or underneath it? Thank you 😊😊

Hi pal,we bitumen the soil side but not the bottom,our thought process being if the bottom is bitumen then wouldn’t that stop the water in the sleepers draining out?but we also lay them on a full bed,but I am liking your method that allows more drainage 👍 but is the bitumen on the bottom going to prevent the sleepers from draining through,let me know your thoughts on that pal,thanks

Same thought over here, if he bitumens sides and bottom then basically its like a bucket, rain water soaks in from the top in the sleeper and stays there eventually having the sleeper to rot within. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm not a pro :)

Well here's a thought, they're just not suitable for a permanent job. They will need replacing down the line as they will rot.... I haven't tried genuine sleepers but I suspect they'd be a better bet but again if it's timber it'll break down in the end no matter what you do to it

You skipped the cutting of the mitred corners which can be a pain. Did you use a circular saw then finish the cut using a hand saw. I’m about to begin mine but don’t want all 90 degree corners thanks good video well done 👏

Very inportant to seal the cut ends with appropriate endsealer as the preasure treatment will not penetrate through to the very centre of the sleapers or any other treated timbers.

As an amateur looking to possibly do more in the near future can I ask how you joined the angled parts of the sleepers together please? Video is very clear and a great help.

Thank you! We skew screwed them through the back side so the fixings aren't visible 👌

Is it recommended to bitumen the bottom of the sleeper as you have done in this video? I can’t make my mind up on what’s the best way to approach this. Adding bitumen to the bottom seems like it would stop rain water from exiting the sleeper?

So just to confirm boys, your laying the slabs on a 4 parts sharp sand 1 part concrete mix ? No ballast? Thanks both
@skaterguy527 күн бұрын
4 parts sharp sand 1 part cement. Ballast is sand and stones mixed for mixing with cement to make concrete
