Thank you for the video on wiring up LED bulbs. I have just completed the lighting up of a signalbox for my garden railway. I shall move on and do the other buildings.

Amazing. This must be the first time I have heard our American friends pronouncing soldering iron the English way. Please say 'mirror' like the English in one of your videos to see who notices.

Could the batteries be in parallel to keep the voltage at 1.5 and eliminate the need for resistors? Would this increase battery life significantly because it eliminates the resistor power use? You had mentioned something about coin cell internal resistance. What's the internal forward resistance of an led?

Great project Becky. What would be required to make the LEDs flicker like a candle? I was thinking something like this would go well in a pumpkin for Halloween.
@BeckyStern4 жыл бұрын
You can get LEDs with chips inside that make them flicker like candles, for example these: amzn.to/33skQAc

What is the forward voltage? Is that a specification related to led or the battery? What about the current? How do you determine that?
@BeckyStern4 жыл бұрын
Both are properties of the LED that can be looked up in it's datasheet

Because of a bad purchasing decision, I am forced to make my own LED lightbulbs for my motorcycle. If I want to keep the turn signals I purchased this video is helpful but I’ll have to do a little more research because deciding on an LED I realize it’s quite confusing.
@BeckyStern Жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, there's an extra part you need for motorcycle blinkers, either a load resistor or flash controller, it has to do with how incandescent bulbs control their own flash rate.

I have a craft question: On an embroidered cloth emblem, one set of lettering was unfortunately done in one shade of blue, over a background of another shade of blue. Can I highlight the lettering with some type of paint which would stand.up to washing? Elsewhere on the emblem there is lettering in black, which is the color I had in mind for the highllighting. Is there a type of paint which would work.? Thanks, Bill W..
@BeckyStern Жыл бұрын
I've never tried that! I suppose the worst that can happen is the paint will wash out or bleed. If they are two different fibers (such as cotton fabric and polyester thread), then fabric dye would affect them differently, potentially resulting in more contrast (cotton absorbs the dye more readily than synthetics). Sorry I don't have a magic bullet for your situation!

Why does the switch go there? I feel like opening the circuit at any point will have the same effect.
@BeckyStern4 жыл бұрын
In this circuit, that is correct. But it's good practice to always put the switch on the positive wire in case the circumstances are different (higher voltage, etc.) www.quora.com/Does-it-matter-if-you-put-switch-fuse-in-a-DC-Circuit-on-positive-terminal-or-negative-terminal
