I am an electromechanical engineer and I was a professor at the University for 25 years, of course I know what you taught in this video. But it is the clearest, most direct, useful, enjoyable teaching I have ever seen. I congratulate you, because it will be of great value to many and an example of how to make a teaching video

@@WylochsArmory I have looked into doing custom LEDs for stuff, even got it working with a bit of luck. (I have a master in computer science and wired/programmed custom circuits for stuff like Cloth touch pads) this is the first time I actually understood exactly what was going on and I've been through quite a few tutorials. Really great presentation !

Late to the party, but just in case anyone is confused about "I" being used for current, and then immediately being denoted in "A" or "mA" - "I" is the way of denoting electrical current, which comes from the French word for "Intensity" ("intensité"). Typically, "I" is used in mathematics where we're just talking about the concept of electrical current, but when we actually measure, we use the SI unit "A" for "Amperes" or "Amps"; This can be modified like "kA" to show kiloamp (1,000Amps) or "mA" to show milliamp (0.001 amps). Consider that when we talk about the "Speed" of something, we might use "S" in an equation, but "mph" or "m/s" to measure it. Great video Wyloch, I'm so happy you're back, and producing frankly - amazing quality content. Keep it up man. ♥

A year back I payed almost $100 for a vendor LED lighting mail order kit for a model build because I couldn't get my head around all of this. After watching your video I am laughing at how wasteful that was because this is so darn simple, it has just NEVER been explained to me so darn simply. You have my unending gratitude for this, not least for giving me the relief of knowing that I can, in fact, understand this!

This has been the clearest, more directed and amazing electrical tutorial I have seen! This simple concept always makes my brain wrap into knots and I constantly have to relearn it. (Never learned resistors before). So my goodness! Thank you. You're a fantastic teacher! Both in regards to the information presented but also in providing a low stress alternative with the resistor test towards the end. I'm adding a breadboard to my cart as we speak thanks to this. (Also don't worry. I still want to get to know how to KNOW what I'm doing and not just doing it. So I'm excited to start understanding and using the spec sheets with my LEDS for more immediate control too)

Probably one of the most useful videos I have ever watched on KZbin. I have started building booknooks, and want to make my own, but didn't even know where to start for the lighting. I might even already have everything I need. I have an Arduino kit, but was having a hard time finding info on how to do any electronics without using that and a breadboard, which I knew wasn't actually needed for what I wanted to do.

Excellent quality video presented in an easily understandable manner. Clear and concise. I would suggest that since the soldering technique portion of the video is glossed over slightly, that a link to another video specifically dedicated to soldering be included. Since we are dealing with components that generally are not sensitive to heat, many first-time solder-ers may still apply solder incorrectly (causing bad connections), or apply heat too long (causing melted wires/fried components) and both these errors can easily create shorts or open circuits.

The best time to get Christmas lights is the days after Christmas, in my experience. Also, if you end up with a few broken LEDs you can sometimes swap them in from a sacrificial strand, which can also be picked apart for hobbying...

Thank you. *This is the most approachable explanation I've seen.* Way too many beginner arduino or lighting tutorials jump ahead to the end projects or assume a preexisting level of knowledge. Problem glossed over in those not so entry level tutorials is way too many of us never learn any electrical schematic information. Too many of us never got that 4th level algebra since lots of districts pushed it off as a middle or high school level math, making it optional after 9th grade. My school was small so we never had math beyond algebra 1 because there were not enough students taught core math beyond basics to even begin to understand higher levels required to enter many STEM fields, and we were the smarter school in the region (focused on chemistry, biology, politics). This creates a barrier that can be embarrassing to even admit we have. US school systems suck as a rule, especially in rural and red areas.
