I went to a stainless steel extra large for a tiny 5 lb. kitty and a long handled stainless steel scooper. I love this thing. No smell embedded in the, fast clean up, easy wash, I just can't say enough good things about this method.

A fresh food diet takes care of most of the odor. I scoop the boxes several times a day. The mound hack has saved me a fortune. I do have to put some litter in the corners, as my cats sometimes like to P there. The goofballs! Happy Sardine Sunday!

If I would do that my cats would pee onto the bottom of the litter box and cover it with kitty litter. That would make everything stick to the bottom.

Thanks for the tips Jess. I adopted a calico cat 2 months ago. I have the plastic litter box but I’ll consider the stainless steel one. I haven’t had any issues with Emilio (my cat) using her box. And I recently switched to unscented litter and to my surprise there’s still no odor. It probably helps that I dip out the box multiple times a day :)

Nah, don’t listen to her. She forgets to mention that not every cat loves metal underneath their paws. Just continue to do what you’re doing. Scoop daily and you should be okay. Even Jackson Galaxy says that.

Jess.... I buy Prides cat litter. I like it so far at Amazon. I do have the medal stainless steel litter box that u have. I bought it at Amazon I love it .aslo have a medal scoops.

I do exactly what u do to clean the litter . I aslo clean Jaspers litter box in the bathtub and I clean the bathtub after everything is done. I use Dawn dish detergent soap is that ok to clean the litter box. .....Thank you Jess for all your videos.

Our cats love a nice full litter box like a sand box so they can bury their business. I prefer nice clean bathrooms so I make sure their 7 boxes are kept clean too.

Cali puts that prop warning on everything. Even my air fryer has that warning. I find Pine Pellets with a sifting box to be the cleanest set up. No tracking or odors.

I understand that the warning is on everything. However, for wood dust specifically breathing it in over long periods of time can cause harmful effects. And we have to remember that our cats are only inches away from the litter multiple times a day while they dig and bury. Just putting it out there!

​​@@jesscaticlesthere's no dust at all with a sifter box. The pellets are solid. They only disintegrate when urine soaked minutes later after the cat is gone from the box. The disintegrated pellet goes straight down through the holes to the bottom compartment away from the cat. Me especially I sift it throughout the day if there's any residual. They only touch solid pellets.

I use pellets as well but am concerned because when my foster poops some of it gets smeared on the pellets and it’s hard to see and pick those out once he’s buried and moved everything around. (I pick up his poop as soon as he goes when I’m around but of course that’s not always the case). I feel like it’s so unhygienic that those dirty pellets stay in the box even after we sift out all the urine soaked powder, both for cats and for us, because they later step on and dig through those pellets and the bacteria gets on their paws. Wondering how others handle this! I think Clumping litters usually don’t have this issue because poop immediately gets coated with whatever dust/granules it touches

Problems with kitty litter full off pee getting stuck to the bottom of the litter box? I add a mug full of plain yellow fine sand to the kitty litter. That sand, (not river sand) lumps, too, but its less sticky and the lumps are easier to remove.

You can coat the box with vegetable oil then dust with baking soda (like you do with butter and flour when prepping pans to bake) then place the litter in the box. It won’t stick

It is an updated version of an older video. Just how I do a best cat food brands video every year. Some of the information is the same because my opinion and experience does not change. However, people ask me to do an update. And there is new experience in this video - the rugs that I use for his litter box.

@@jesscaticles Thanks. I looked at them, they seem to be huge. My one is made of plastic but 20% smaller and I noticed that my cats still go to a tiny little box with old cat litter I have near my washing machine. That one is about 8in by 14in in size. .
