That was the best way I’ve seen that tool being demonstrated. I’ll be trying that in a day or 2.

I bought the cheap looptyers. Quick skim over with a bit of sandpaper and you are all good. Same with Matchman or those Chinese metal hooktyers. Just take the sharp edges off the prongs with sandpaper. No more line damage.

Perfect video esp on the figure of 8 knot i was getting mixed up with an underhand knot in passing the loop twice through the hole instead of twisting it round then through for tying hooks. Can you show how to line tye hooks that are already hair rigged with push stops onto hook lengths

Great vid Scott,Have you any ideas on how to release your line from the line clip Quick and easy when clipping up either informative or video when you get a fish on don't want to unclip every cast if possible and my line clip isn't that good, Would love your feedback if you can help Cheers mate.
@Scottsoutdoorchannel4 жыл бұрын
When clipping up make sure you have at least 2 turns on the reel when it's on your rest, so it gives a bit of run initially, the only thing you can really do is be quick in unclipping which is not always easy and I've been smashed myself a couple of times. One chap I know puts a small loop of line on his mainline and when he hears it going through the eyes of the rod, he feathers the feeder down, I prefer to clip up if I'm against a feature or far bank ect but in open water I just fire it out and pray it lands near where I want it lol

I can tie a loop with the tool but I really bloody struggle getting the line over to form the loop for the last bit! I’ll try doing it with holding the line like you’ve done here.

Howd do you tie in a bait band using the tire pls
@Scottsoutdoorchannel3 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy, for bait bands I tie them using an overhand knot, the loop tyer is great for loops but doesn't work for bands
@ianwest97842 жыл бұрын
You can actually use a loop tyer to do bait bands ... I watched in on you tube 2 years ago and never got the hang of it Tried loads of times aswell Sure the guy was using a dodgy loop tyer 😂😂 Do them by hand with a loop sizer and the ngt tool now and never have a problem Great video again 👍

Do fish, measure the length of the line, or reject the bait if the size is not long enough?
@Scottsoutdoorchannel5 ай бұрын
It's more about consistency with bait presentation, if the hook length is all the same length then the bait will be in the same place every time so you don't miss the fish. Hope that helps.

@@Scottsoutdoorchannel I've been fihing for over 50yrs now and have found out that the more I fish, the less the fish left over by the fish factories, to the point, that with the billions of $ spent by all the equipment out there, it's going to wind up a "free for all!" As to who's going to get the last fish, before the trawler gets there!

Loop tyers are as good as sliced bread. The first one I ever saw was a Sensas which was perfectly moulded but very expensive, the second was a Prestons which was a cheap and nasty knock off which was made at a price not a quality and unusable due to the moulding flash on the inside of the beak. As you say there are many types out there my favourite is the Exceed 2012, problem is they sink. You use your loop tyer like I do as there are several different methods to using them. One thing I did find when uslng the hook box as a template for length if you were using thick line as in my case .20 the amount of line used in making the knot was sufficient to shorten the overall hook length especially if you were using a double twist. Making a jig from a strip of dry wood and two small oval nails allowed the correct length of line to be measured before tying the loop. Using mono allows for some stretch, try using braid with no stretch then see how they fit on the pins in the hook box, In my case whoops. Also try tying the loop larger in your main line when using loop to loop. Thank you for taking the time to put your content on KZbin.
@Scottsoutdoorchannel4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Malc, you've made some great points and I've fallen foul of the dreaded double turn on thick lines more than once lol. The jigs are a great idea and I might have to get some made. Cheers Scott

I purchased a 4 loop tyer set off Ebay for about $8.00 shipped, and took about 15 minutes of time with the wife's diamond coated nail file and a few narrow strips of sandpaper from about 220 grit through 400 grit glued to a strip of wood to eliminate the casting flash. They are now smooth as silk and work perfectly for about $2.00 each and a little bit of my time.
