This is the absolute BEST explanation of all that I've seen on you tube! Thank you so much for this video. It's made it much simpler for me to understand how to do this without stressing about it as much as I have by watching other videos on it. Holding the two needles together as you knit is a GAME CHANGER for me! I've been struggling with how to hold them as I knit. This is the solution!

Excellent description! ! One question - does there have to be an equal number of stitches on each side? I have a sleeve pattern where the central 6 stitches are a cable panel, so can't be split. Thanks!

Great question thanks! You don’t need an equal number of stitches, so just arrange them however suits your cable pattern best. It’s just usual to work in halves because it’s the obvious place to split & can be easier to keep track of depending on the pattern.
