There aren't any low-budget tools I'm aware of that work as well as Surfer. The next best thing would be the SEO.app plugin on ChatGPT, which you can access if you are a ChatGPT Plus subscriber, but it doesn't work the same nor as well. I talk a little bit about it in this video (link starts at the relevant section): kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYPCZWZmprWDrNU I also have a couple of alternative strategies that I teach in my AI-Amplified course (available during July for Patreon members), but they're still not as effective as using Surfer SEO.

I'm also a big fan of Koala. 🐨 The beauty of the ChatGPT + AIPRM method is that you can just plug in your keywords and get exactly what you need because all the specific prompts for the content and structure are pre-entered. Koala can write informational posts too, but I'd undoubtedly need to fuss around a bit with each outline and section prompt to get an output that works well for featured snippets. So I mostly save Koala for Amazon round-up review posts, which is where I feel it shines brightest!

I find when I used Koala for Amazon roundup posts they don't get indexed, but when I used Chatgpt they did.

Honestly, it'd probably be pretty tough. At the very least I would install the free Yoast plugin which gives you a checklist of sorts to follow. I would say it is definitely worth investing in a few tools if you want to turn your blog into a business.
