Hi dc 😁 Yes you can use butter instead. You will use the same amount. You can either cream the butter into the sugar, or you can melt it before adding it. Hi Farhat, you can indeed do this in a 5 inch pan, the cake won't rise as much, but that's OK. Also make sure you bake it about 5 minutes less in your oven.
