I am a new viewer but long-time collector and really appreciate your content over the last few months. “Perspective” is one of the costliest and valuable lessons in life. I have been collecting/investing since 13 and would be a millionaire by now if I just took more calculated risks in my 20s and NOT as many in my 30s to learn this. I was too afraid to loose money in my 20s and felt too much pressure to catch up in my 30s. I did not have the proper perspective on the long-term and how much life can change over decades of adulthood,(kids anybody…) Now that I am in my forties I have made lots of money and lost lots of money and the losses ALWAYS taught me more. The losses also teach you about resilience, which is something only “paying your dues” and “taking Chuck Norris fists” can teach you. Learn a market you love, assess the data, set a clear goal, and as Rudy says, “Always respect the Supply!” P.S. Never use “live-on” money for calculated risks folks.

I’m broke 24/7 but I’m working hard to progress, slowly but surely. Whatever money I have left over now a days, I save. I wish I could fund my hobbies like Magic or cars. But thank goodness my car is paid off and I’m not in debt, I have no crazy bills, or student loans to pay back. I’m just grateful for what I have and I wake up every morning extremely happy. Appreciate you Rudy.

I knew this was coming with graded cards. There was a bubble with all the submissions and held up and the higher premiums from PSA, it created a false sense of security with the value. Once PSA catches up and suddenly people can get everything graded for $15 ea then the inflated value is gone. All your money holding PSA cards just fell drastically.
@thevintagevaluesexperience43022 жыл бұрын
People say "it's a bubble" because people only buy graded cards to make money. However, just because investor demand > organic demand, even by such an overwhelming margin, doesn't mean it's a bubble. Look at crypto. How many people do you think actually USE cryptocurrencies? Nowhere near as many people compared to those that buy crypto as an investment. Rudy seems like someone who'd be open to reason and data. He seems like someone who has a very keen sense of how to trade, and for someone with those skills it can be very difficult to ascribe any success to luck. And it seems like Rudy does in fact appreciate that there's been a heavy element of luck. Sadly, we live in a big world and most people don't move far beyond what Americans would think of as poverty. People who work day and night, grinding their minds and bodies away, just to get their child into a school or to afford medical bills for family members. We lucky few have been born into a part of the world where we can trade bits of pretty cardboard for fun and even profit, so it's incumbent on us to remember this is an extreme luxury not shared by most humans and not afforded primarily by our own merit.

Easy Mode being over is fine with me. The bigger concern is that cardboard investments continue to increase in EV at a rate > than inflation (ideally), or at least equal to it. (so your $100 EV box doesn't become worth $50 adjusted when the benjamin gets overprinted)
@kaibe52412 жыл бұрын
It’s actually the opposite. It makes the box worth $200. Inflation reduces the value of the dollar so you have to spend MORE to get the same things.
@abolishshekeluse37822 жыл бұрын
why would any one asset in true appreciation over time hold the same pace as the entire currency, the global reserve currency based on oil reserves
@djdrack46812 жыл бұрын
@@kaibe5241 Hmm. No. What I mean is that if 2025 $100 has the purchase power of only $50 2019, then inflation would be 100%. In that same time if the 2019 EV was say $90 but the 2025 EV is only $150 then your adjusted 2025 EV is actually less. It'd need to be $180 just to break even and have the same value; whereas the actual increase in EV is 66%, which would be 'decent' w/o the inflation factored in. Example (hypothetical) 2: the inflation between 2019 and 2025 is only 10% total. Which would be a yearly of like 1.5% roughly. But if the EV of a box went from $90 in 2019 to 180 in 2025 (15%annually) then you've beat inflation, so you have actually increased the value.
@djdrack46812 жыл бұрын
@@abolishshekeluse3782 Wdym? Currency isn't the ceiling for value of something. MANY items in demand historically have outpaced currency inflation, let alone done something more nominal like keeping up with it. The currency whether commodity/resource backed (gold/oil/etc) or fiat or even crypto is hardly the determining factor in a given items value. In fact it is the exact opposite: If you have a flat tire and Im the only auto shop for 200miles, and have the right size tire: the value of that tire is entirely based on supply/demand. I'm the only supplier, you absolutely NEED it, and I'm naming the price. So long as you're willing to pay the price (even if you think it is VERY high), it is the going rate of that tire. I could have paid $50 wholesale and sold it to you for $1000, increasing my $ 20-fold: which certainly would outpace the currency for that year.

Does Rudy's speech on young people spending everything they make throughout their teens, 20's and beyond resonate with people here? It's clear Rudy believes this represents the majority of people. He's given a version of that speech many times on this channel. As someone whose always been responsible with his money and show no signs of ever being well off financially...I don't resonate with this. The friends I had in high school, in university and then in regular jobs after I failed in university MOSTLY didn't fall into this either. There are exceptions...every so often I was friends or knew someone who had that FOMO bug and constantly had new tech...owned a car far earlier than others...treating significant others to the high life, etc Those people weren't the norm though. To me the norm was people working a job. Putting some money away for a rainy day and general savings...spending less than we save on fun but being generally responsible about it. Basically being responsible. Rudy doesn't talk about those kinds of people. I'd like to hear the speech about them. It may be very similar but it would still be nice to know.

I wasted all my money in my late teens and early 20s. I had a good job and next to no bills, as I was living with my parents, and yet I still wasted it all. I wish I had saved some or invested some, but I was young and stupid and didn't care about the future. I know many people who have done exactly the same thing, only to get in to their 30s and realise they should have been saving in their 20s when they had little responsabilities.

Although I agree mostly, I look forward to the days of raising rates, I lived through the 80s, and there is something to be said for getting 5/6+ percent on a SAVINGS acct. Let alone CDs, bond yields, etc. There is a component of warm and fuzzyness to higher savings interest rates that I think is discounted, especially when it comes to small dollar colectibles like card packs. The increased rates will allow for slightly increased disposable expenditure (even if the rate effect is entirely psychological).

This is very true. Many people have doubt and that is why market swings and volatility cause such duress. When you are raised and taught that "everyone is a winner" and then you have to take a loss in life (even a virtual loss), it is traumatic because it goes against the world view that you were raised with. As an investor or economist your job isn't to win all the time, by accepting that there will be winners and losers, successes and failures, your job is to weigh the risks and rewards and decide whether it is worth it or not.

Now I’m picking up graded copies of the holos, just to own these cards I always saw in magazines, but could never afford when I was younger. They’re so cheap, because Timmy ran and dumped tons of them into PSA and CGC, and now they can’t sell them cheap enough. I don’t intend to flip them, don’t care about what they’re worth. The difference is, and many people from economists, to historians, to sociologists and normal people have said: Once the 20th century began, things kept getting better most of the time. With exceptions like the SpanishFlu which lasted 4 years after WW1, the Great Depression (which still has lasting repercussions to this day), WW2, and the general constant Wars overseas, and near to home...things have supposedly gotten better. But not for all, and not for most unfortunately. The work that a person could put in 100 years ago would have been worth just slightly less than would have been worthwhile. But after the shifting world power dynamics of the World Wars, by the 1950s, a person could work hard, save money, and actually end up owning thei home in 20 years if they were just smartenough to save and work. That "american dream" would soon shatter as people woke up to the realities that many groups were prevented from attaining the same ideals and goals for various reasons. Even by the 1980s, as half party life and half depressing as things seemed, stuff was a bit better. Yet do most people have their houses paid off by now since then? Some dont. But still there was some hope till the end of the century. It was not until 2001 when rampant military spending, ultra inflation, and ever more frequently failing markets and sheer absurdity had made things worse and worse over a 20 year period which most of humans alive now have seen first hand since all those years ago. Still plenty of people work their asses off , and even if inflation wasnt a thing, the result would still be almost as disappointing as similar effort was 100 years previously. As was foretold: the wicked will continue to rise and make war, and sell hard drugs, and traffic humans, and experiment cruelly and without right, and steal, and kill, and make billions until there is once more a type of "aristocracy" that has not been seen ruling oer the masses for the better part of 500 years. You think those jerks are wealthy now? Wait till their kids or grandkids are trillionaires in 40 years. Its now or never people. Rise up and chage the world for the better for the people, BY The people...or fall forever. The future wont be bright without the world at large forcing a change.

Rudy just confirmed it: He's coming to buy the etched foils in our brains... He will possess us all.

I feel like I had a vision and have foreseen an upcoming Rudy video. Sometime in the near future we will see Rudy tossing Streets of Capenna boxes out his backdoor just to prove a point when the market deeps as predicted/expected. I would even buy one of those tossed out boxes cause we all know the damaged boxes have the best pulls. Nice video Rudy most the time I only like the video but occasionally I have to leave a crazy comment for good measure.

You have to sell when prices are high and you have to find a buyer that will buy the set. You dont want a 100 boxes in front of you and cant sell!
