I have to ask however that maybe this video could have been a little longer because my question is what happens if the med macd on a retracing light green bar hits a red bar on the shorter macd? May I make a suggestion? Study MACD thoroughly first, as this will help you understand where the rules come from. Also, once you understand MACD fully and have practiced a lot, you will be able to flow better. You will go from the Mechanical Stage to the Subjective Stage of trading (Mark Douglas' terminology). In the Subjective Stage you will incorporate new elements to your trading, like the slope of the MACD histogram, the history of the stock, and other elements that cannot be quantifiable.

This is an absolutely fantastic strategy. Just from the little bit of back testing I did its like a 95% win rate. Mind you the one loss i saw was basically a break even, and the wins were 1:3 or higher. I took the same concept and applied it to the 5 min chart and added a 50 ema. Really useful video! Something that I found helpful : It works even better if you combine it with things like DMI (to look at trend strength) or something else that can help you keep an eye on volume and screen some duds. It does work pretty well, but when it fails, it's usually because there isn't enough movement happening to hit a reasonable target before the trend indicated by your signal exhausts itself.

On trades that don't hit the profit target, what do you use to exit the trade besides just letting it hit the stop? What if, say, you are long and then all three MACD's go red? Would you bail out of the trade or still wait and "hope" it turns before hitting the stop? Or would you wait for a short signal to exit the long and reverse? I know about trailing stops but when I tried using them on the 1 minute, it seemed tricky to know where to put them because often they stopped me out too soon (profit target would have been hit.)

In scalping there is a saying "set and forget", meaning you just let the stop loss to be hit. The reason is in scalping many trades are opened during day, and the profit/loss are very small in terms of price movement.

Hello, I have just been wondering. If you look at the the stop loss in percentage it is usually between 0.04% - 0.06%. With a RR of 2:1, that will be 0.08% profit for a stop loss of 0.04% trade. How will it be profitable if the broker’s fee is calculated on the trading capital * leverage size based on position size? For example, a broker might charge 0.04% for entry and 0.04% for exit (remember this 0.04% is calculated on principal capital * leverage).

For example if you have 1000$ account, you're gonna lose 10$ on the trade (1% of your trading account), and 15 dollars profit if you have risk to reward ratio of 1.5. And your position size is calculated based on your stop loss in a way that these results will be the case. Please watch my tutorial on 1% rule.

Really good strategy. Quick Question: Consider the following bullish scenario: Long Term MACD is green and Medium Term MACD is light green. When short term MACD is dark Red, go to medium term MACD...if medium Term MACD is dark Red also, go to long term MACD and wait for it to go dark green. But what if the long term MACD goes dark red before it turns dark green? Do you still have a valid setup for a long trade? Or does the changing of colours of the Long term MACD (from light/dark green, to dark Red) mean price action is too choppy to trade? Many thanks in advance.

No MACD is not repainting. During the time that a candle is open, you my see it change for that period, but when it's closed, it doesn't change. You should wait until the candle is closed, and if the conditions are still in effect, then you can take the trade.

How do you filter ranging markets with indicators? Because the long term macd is not a valid way to decide about this in my opinion

Tried bbwp, bollinger, adx, rsi, ema bands, ema distance and the variation of all these but it’s just not that simple. Do you have back test results for this strategy. I like the simplicity of it

@@cyberfuker85 I think you must upgrade to a level higher. Focus on price action analysis. If you want to better analyze the chart and identify trending or non-trending markets, price action analysis performs much better than any indicator.

That's usually when the market is in a trading range, the longer term trend of the marker relative to your chart. Add another indicator like ADX, or use price action analysis if you have the experience. You must stop trading when the market is not trending, because this is a trend following strategy and not working well when the market is flat.

Great stuff. I had been experimenting with 2 macd but results were mix. This seems to have fixed some of the problem. One question - is there any early exit strategy for trades where there is a higher probability that the set up is not going to work after entering the trade? I am thinking when the first two macd go in opposite direction to trade.
