The lights you installed are made to be installed on a horizontal surface not a vertical surface like you installed them on. TH marine also sells the vertical set which would work better for your application.

I need a light to see out ahead of me. Without the glare of the dash on the windshield . These will not suffice on a large Canadian lake at night .

Never did no, they worked perfectly even though it wasn’t completely flush

Are you sure they shine back 225 degrees from straight ahead? How did you know that they do on the curved sides? I was hoping you would show that.
