I personally think this video is awesome. Too many on the internet teaching techniques etc etc but when it comes to foundation before techniques, rarely anyone explains or teaches it as many would think of conceptual videos as boring. But this is gold.

I like the principle of being seated. However, I see the utility of sitting back or sitting in a combat base for close range when strikes are incorporated. Ah he did show the combat base option at about 4:30! Thanks for the great video!

Excellent content in this video! Concepts and detailed explanations such as this are filling an important gap in Jiu Jitsu videos online. Everyone is obsessed with individual techniques. Those of us who are early in our journey can benefit tremendously from conceptual explanations, and I’d wager we’re the majority of viewers. One question... if your opponent is a few feet away, why not just stand up and go for a takedown? I don’t understand why I see so many people stay seated, even to the point of scooting on one’s bum to get closer to an opponent
@InvisibleJiuJitsu
@InvisibleJiuJitsu 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Aaron!! You're very correct and we actually discussed that at length during the class too, and how (especially in bjj) players forget they can stand from guard and how they're limiting their own effectiveness. I might make a video on this in the future

Thanks David for the detail tutorial. I've started to work on my leg lock game and the concepts and approach you presented make alot of sense. Alot of the leg moves I do work on same level or less experience practioners. Higher level grapples tend to stop my entry game. I will definitely put alot of this theory into practice. I'm 6'4" and have long legs and arms so leg locks, Darce chokes and flying Kimuras are my go to's. I'm curious to see your approach on taking the back from a shin guard seated position on a standing opponent? Thank you for the knowledge.
@InvisibleJiuJitsu

Thank you, really good stuff! How do you deal with people entering with the lead leg from the "bad" side? I usually go shin on shin with my left against their right, but recently people have begun to step in with the left leg. As I'm not as good on that side, it completely messes up my game. Do you have any means of forcing your opponent to switch lead leg?
@InvisibleJiuJitsu
@InvisibleJiuJitsu 5 жыл бұрын
You can try to hook the leg and make them escape by stepping back, for example, but often you're just stuck with that leg
