Just a note, Black wire is Hot not positive. Also you should twist your wires as the other ones before to put the twist one connector so they all stay together inside the box

And then add a small piece of electrical tape around it
@AmyC287132 ай бұрын
As a kind reminder "positive for electric" is the actual term you would use in the rest of the world that speaks English as an additional language. That's why the content creators use Positive and Neutral and Ground as the actual terminology rather than layman slang. ❤
@DrLoveQc2 ай бұрын
@@AmyC28713 hi Amy, thanks to be kind in your response. To be honest I dont see any situation where it could be named as positive. DC has positive, negative/ground. But for AC, since it is an alternate current, the positive and negative side change 60 times per seconds. We call it "LIVE" or "HOT", neutral and ground. But I can see that some could do the analogy to DC since, if the positive(dc) or live(ac), it is the one what will bring the circuit alive, its the dangerous one (in most cases). Cheers 🥂

Always use a little handheld tester to make sure your power is off. It looks like a pen or a marker. You hold it to the wires and press a button and if the wires are still hot it will beep nice and loud.
@IAmThe_RA Жыл бұрын
It is only used to check if the circuit is energized but not to check if the circuit is dead. For 100% safe isolation, you have to use a voltage indicator with a proving unit to ensure the potential difference across hot, neutral and ground are 0V. This why you almost never see a professional electrician carry a handheld tester.

You really NEED to check the wires are actually DEAD before going in and touching them even after popping the circuitbreaker. The number of electrocutions that occur because the wrong breaker was switched off or some wiring error that backfeeds Line (or Active or Phase) ... NEVER called POSITIVE (used to describe DC voltage) to the connection you are working on. This video kind of took a shortcut on safety! Another good practice is to put a temporary note tag on the breaker you have switched off so someone else doesn’t come by and reset it for whatever reason not knowing you’re working on mains electrics!
@StoopSports3 жыл бұрын
0:34 the video says the ensure the power is off. If you need a KZbin video to explain that to you, then you shouldn't be working with electricity in the first place. Hire someone.. LOL
@peteb23 жыл бұрын
@@StoopSports still a good idea to measure or even use a chicken stick for any potential on the conductors you're going to handle even though you pulled the fuse, or popped the breaker at the fuse box and locked them out with a tag warning you are on the other end! Just good safe practice to get into really....
