How to Change A Wall Sconce - Beginner's Guide DIY

In this video, we are changing out an old jelly jar wall sconce for a really fast upgrade to a dated and worn-out light fixture. This project only takes 10-15 minutes and is perfect for a beginner. Although the light fixture in this video is outside, you can follow the same directions to change out most wall sconces inside your home as well.

Thanks so much for such an explicit step by step Video instructions! It helped a lot, especially the tip to save the old screws due to a size difference because that’s exactly what I had to do! I appreciate your help in allowing me to do this myself! The only extra tip that no videos or written instructions in the light box itself included was to adjust the back screw that holds the screw caps to secure the fixture to the wall/box to be long enough just to accommodate the washer and screw cap. I had to learn the hard way after wiring everything and securing to the wall only to have too much space/slack to tighten it tight against the wall. That’s it, no big deal just more time, which it started to rain so I had to hurry! Thanks again, Christine

Question I did mine today but when I open up the old lamp and expose the inside I only seen the Black and white white there wasn’t no ground in there is it ok to just connect it like that without the ground wire ?
