I am still working on this.. I messed up the eyes and putting a second coat of paint over the black on the face made me loose the look of the colors with the undercoat.. so now I have repainted the face black so I can try again... the hair is looking mostly fabulous but I see I am lacking on the ears so I shall have to so a study on the ears also.. (In the mean time, in the space between, I am working on the Goddess Earth on an 16 x 20.. ) I am glad you pinned this link to the Unicorn Horn here... so I can find it ♥♥♥

Thank you so much for this tutorial, Cinnamon ❤️ we just lost my Dad after a year long battle with Leukemia and witnessed the devastating effects of not only the disease, but also the toll chemo takes. To top the year off, my sisters 13 yr old Lab was just diagnosed with cancer. I hope to someday see a time where there is a cure for this horrible disease. Thank you for sharing your talent and spreading joy and healing in this uncertain time.

Thank you for having this on youtube! This painting definitely challenged me. But, you made me realize art is a process and takes lots of practice and with each piece you learn! my horse turned out less majestic than I hoped (a little more like a "fluffy" pasture pet, but I hung it on the wall anyway. Hopefully the next painting to go up will show improvement. This was a great cure for my snowy night blues!

I like this horse lesson as at least I can see the drawing - however, beginners could have benefits from using a grid here. Horses are a difficult subject to capture and drawing them without a tracing can add to the painting experience as the artist can be more mindful of value that way. A light background might have helped the beginner here. This is a beautiful painting.
@TheArtSherpa
@TheArtSherpa 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback on what may have helped you in this lesson. I am so glad you like the painting. As a beginner in drawing I understand where you might have appreciated the grid and a light background but remember you can always add those things through simple tools online and they are FREE . It can be hard to know where those tools are and how to access them for these types of adjustments to make challenging lesson easier. My first advice would be to try www.griddrawingtool.com/ take the reference and create a custom grid from it. You get to work on those beginning drawing skills while still having aid of a grid. Even though I have chosen a black background you could easily change this to something lighter and then follow the rest of the steps to accomplish the lesson. Keep in mind to manage your expectations if you haven't done this type of transformation before. Going for it is the most important so jump in. I went to look at your current paintings online to give your better feedback and would highly suggest trying a digital painting tool to experiment with the idea so you're more successful in your final result. I remember you had some interest in my mother's paintings I would highly suggest enrolling in her online art school if you have not already and registering for her PAC service. I tend to be a very soft touch with my students but I suspect you're at a stage now where some direct and pointed feedback would be of benefit for you to grow. I noticed that you are very focused on drawing in your recent comments and after looking at your lovely your artwork ( good job keep it up) I do think that you should focus on hue, value, and shading. Your ability to deal with a grayscale would change the game I think. Try painting a image in black and white first and then bring in the color once you have the values worked out. These are called value studies and they are fun, We did this our first Acrylic April and it really helped everyone. It would also get that self portrait ( fun right?) to the next level and get your Strawberries to be more 3d and more lush on the canvas. I hope these tools and suggestions are helpful in your goals and an artist. Remember its not the destination it's the journey. You can do this and thank you so much for your feedback. We do have more camera angles and grids provided for most lessons now. Also all of Acrylic April 2020 theartsherpa.com/calendar/month=4/year=2020 has grids and lots of skills that are staggered so they build up in a fun and easy way. You can do this!! Thank you so much for your support you are doing great! Also Drawing is like painting. You should try to do some every day and in a year you will be blown away by where you are !!
